In 2025, the face of rock and metal might surprise you. Sleep Token made a huge impact with their album *Even in Arcadia*, which sparked debates about their genre while topping charts and selling out shows. After gaining a loyal fanbase with their first three albums, especially *Take Me Back to Eden* in 2023, they took a big leap into the mainstream with *Even in Arcadia*, their first release on RCA Records.
The album was announced in March with the lead single “Emergence.” This 6.5-minute track mixed metal, alternative, pop, and hip-hop, even featuring a saxophone solo. Despite its unique sound, “Emergence” climbed the rock and alternative charts and even hit the Billboard Hot 100, marking a first for the band. Their U.S. arena tour sold out six months before it started in September.
When *Even in Arcadia* dropped in May, it debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking the biggest week for a rock album in nearly a year. It also topped the charts in the U.K. Sleep Token’s mysterious vibe, led by the masked singer known as Vessel, added to their allure. Their success earned them Grammy nominations for best metal performance and best rock song in 2026.
Other breakout acts in 2025 included Turnstile, whose album *NEVER ENOUGH* gave them their first top-10 Billboard 200 hit and a #1 on the Alternative Airplay chart. Yungblud had a standout year, especially with his viral performance of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” and a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at the MTV VMAs. Spiritbox also made waves with their new album *Tsunami Sea*, featuring their highest-charting radio hit.
