Metallica has paid tribute to the late conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, who passed away on Wednesday. The band worked with Thomas during their 2019 S&M2 concerts, where they performed with the San Francisco Symphony under his direction.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Metallica expressed their sadness over his passing. They described Thomas as a “towering figure in classical music” and noted that many fans got to know him through his collaboration on the S&M2 shows in September 2019.
The band shared how much they valued their time with Thomas, saying they learned a lot while preparing for the performances. They added that it was a great honor to have him conduct their shows and that he will be greatly missed.
