Breaking Benjamin’s ‘Aurora’: Reimagining Classic Tracks

Sometimes, an album is so great that it deserves a fresh take. That’s exactly what Breaking Benjamin did with their 2020 compilation album, *Aurora*. It might seem odd to change something that’s already good, but reimagining classic songs can create something even better. It all comes down to songwriting. A great song shines no matter how it’s played—acoustically, with electric guitars, or even in a classical style.

Breaking Benjamin formed in the late 1990s and released their major-label debut, *Saturate*, in 2002. They really took off with *We Are Not Alone* in 2004, thanks to hits like “So Cold” and “Sooner or Later.” Soon, they were alongside other big names like Shinedown and Three Days Grace.

In *Aurora*, Breaking Benjamin added new voices to their music. The album features guest artists like Lacey Sturm from Flyleaf, Michael Barnes from Red, and Adam Gontier from Saint Asonia and Three Days Grace. It also includes a new song, “Far Away,” featuring Scooter Ward from Cold.

Another way they reimagined their hits was by making some songs acoustic and adding symphonic rock elements. Tracks like “So Cold,” “Failure,” “Tourniquet,” and “Torn in Two” still rock hard but now have a fresh, orchestral twist. With *Aurora*, Breaking Benjamin breathed new life into their classic hits, and that’s something to celebrate.
