Director of ‘Song Sung Blue’ reveals Eddie Vedder’s tie to the film

The new movie *Song Sung Blue* has a surprising link to Eddie Vedder. This biopic tells the story of Lightning & Thunder, a Neil Diamond tribute duo made up of Mike Sardina and Claire Sardina, played by Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson. In the film, they get their big break when they are invited to open for Pearl Jam.

Director Craig Brewer shared, “This is true. Eddie Vedder is the MVP of Lightning & Thunder.” Pearl Jam even posted concert footage on their Facebook page, which was also featured in a 2008 documentary about the duo, also titled *Song Sung Blue*.

Brewer revealed that the documentary almost faced a roadblock from Diamond’s publishing company. However, Vedder stepped in and personally appealed to Diamond, who then allowed the project to move forward. Brewer said, “Eddie has been such a support in telling the story of Lightning & Thunder.”

In a special move, Vedder even allowed the use of Pearl Jam’s song “Alive,” which they have never licensed before. Brewer noted, “It’s always been an automatic no. And he gave it to us.”

*Song Sung Blue* is now in theaters, so be sure to check it out!
