The Ed Sullivan Show aired on CBS from 1948 to 1971 and attracted 35 to 50 million viewers each week. Sullivan made it a priority to present a diverse lineup of performers. Otis Williams from the Temptations says in the film, “He was a door opener, especially for Black artists.” The documentary includes interviews with legends like Harry Belafonte, Dionne Warwick, and Berry Gordy, showcasing Sullivan’s influence on Black music and the Civil Rights Movement.

In addition to interviews, Sunday Best features amazing performances from iconic artists. Alongside the Beatles and Elvis, you can catch Ray Charles, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Tina Turner, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and many more.
