Floetry’s debut album, Floetic, is getting a vinyl reissue! Fans can choose between a standard black 2LP and a special dark rose vinyl edition, both available through Interscope Records. Mark your calendars for November 14, as both versions are up for pre-order now.
Floetic features the duo’s biggest hit, “Say Yes,” which topped charts in the U.S. and the U.K. Other popular tracks include “Floetic” and “Getting Late.” The album also includes a demo of “Butterflies,” originally written for Michael Jackson and featured on his 2001 album, Invincible. Floetic earned four Grammy nominations, including Best Contemporary R&B Album, and individual nods for “Floetic” and “Say Yes.” The duo also won three Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards for the album and was certified gold.
Floetry was formed in the U.K. in 1997 by Marsha Ambrosius, known as “the Songstress,” and Natalie Stewart, “the Floacist.” They blended spoken word poetry with melodic vocals, creating a unique sound in the neo-soul genre. After performing in the U.K., their career took off when they moved to Philadelphia in the early 2000s and joined the Black Lily women’s collective.
The duo released their second album, Flo’ology, in 2005 but disbanded in 2006. They have reunited several times since, including tours in 2015 and earlier this year in Ohio. Don’t miss your chance to grab Floetic on vinyl!
