Judas Priest doc set to premiere at 2026 Hot Docs Festival

The new Judas Priest documentary, *The Ballad of Judas Priest*, will premiere in Canada at the 2026 Hot Docs Festival. Co-directed by Sam Dunn and Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, the film explores the band’s incredible 50-year journey. It features interviews with the band members and never-before-seen footage from their personal archives. Fans can also look forward to appearances from rock legends like Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, and Jack Black.

The film had its world premiere in February at the Berlin International Film Festival, where Morello, Dunn, and Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford were present. A sneak peek of the film was released on YouTube before the Berlin premiere.

At a press conference in Berlin, Morello shared his thoughts on the band, saying, “Heavy metal music is the music that made me love music, and Judas Priest are culturally really the creators of heavy metal, co-creators of it musically with Black Sabbath. But as far as a cultural force, creating a community that is metal, that is Judas Priest.”

The Hot Docs Festival will take place in Toronto from April 23 to May 3. For ticket information, check out hotdocs.ca. (Note: The video includes uncensored profanity.)
