Kool & The Gang, the legendary band recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, has just dropped a new remix EP called Kool Summer. This six-track EP is now available on all major streaming platforms.
Kool Summer features fresh remixes of some of the band’s biggest hits, reimagined for today’s dancefloors. The project includes contributions from a talented group of producers and remixers. DJ Crazy, known for his role in popularizing Baltimore club music, brings his unique style to the mix. Prince Hakim, son of Kool & The Gang’s Robert “Kool” Bell, adds his touch to the hit “Fresh.” The Reflex, a London DJ who has worked with big names like Louis Vuitton, remixes both “Celebration” and “Jungle Boogie.” Adam Ten, an underground trendsetter, and Young Franco, an Australian DJ, also lend their skills to the EP.
Prince Hakim believes projects like this help introduce classic tracks to younger fans. He says, “That era is the best music ever made. We have the power to preserve it.” DJ Crazy shares his excitement about remixing “Celebration,” saying it feels like a full-circle moment for him. “I was raised on this music,” he adds.
Robert “Kool” Bell, who turns 75 this October, is thrilled about the remixes. He says, “We try to keep the music ‘Fresh’ and exciting. It’s great to hear the DJs put their spin on our songs.”
