Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, and Sabrina Carpenter Top VMA Nominations 2025

The nominations for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are out, and Lady Gaga leads the pack with an impressive 12 nods. Bruno Mars follows closely with 11, while Kendrick Lamar has 10. Sabrina Carpenter and ROSÉ each received eight nominations, and Ariana Grande and The Weeknd have seven. Billie Eilish rounds it out with six.

This is the third time Gaga has topped the nominations, having done so in 2010 and 2020. She currently has 18 VMAs, trailing behind Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, who each have 30. Many of Gaga’s nominations come from her collaboration with Bruno Mars on “Die With a Smile,” which is up for Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Collaboration. Gaga is also nominated for Artist of the Year, and her latest album, *Mayhem*, is in the running for Album of the Year. The video for her single “Abracadabra” received nods for Best Directing, Cinematography, and Choreography.

Kendrick Lamar’s 10 nominations are largely due to his hit “Not Like Us,” which is nominated for Video of the Year and several other categories. He’s also up for Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration for “Luther,” featuring SZA.

Sabrina Carpenter, who won her first VMA last year, earned eight nominations, including Video of the Year for “Manchild.”

In the Video of the Year category, Gaga and Mars’ “Die With a Smile” will compete against Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Carpenter’s “Manchild,” and others.

Fan voting for all 19 gender-neutral VMA categories is open now and ends on September 5. The show will air live on September 7 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+.
