Lady Gaga Releases New Song ‘The Dead Dance,’ Featured in Netflix Series ‘Wednesday’

Lady Gaga, known as “Mother Monster,” has embraced a gothic vibe with her new song and video, “The Dead Dance.” This track is part of the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday, where Gaga makes a cameo as the ghostly professor Rosaline Rotwood. Tim Burton, who directed the show, also directed the black and white video for “The Dead Dance.” In the video, Gaga appears as a cracked porcelain doll, dancing through a spooky forest filled with marionettes.

Gaga’s connection to Wednesday started in the first season when fans on TikTok paired the dance of Wednesday (played by Jenna Ortega) with her song “Bloody Mary.” This led to a surge in popularity for the track, even though it was released a decade ago. Gaga premiered “The Dead Dance” at the Wednesday Graveyard Gala, where she shared that the song was inspired by a breakup. She explained that it captures the feelings we have when a relationship ends and how it can affect our hope for love. However, it also has a fun beat that celebrates having a good time with friends after tough experiences.

“The Dead Dance” was produced by Gaga along with Andrew Watt and Cirkut, who worked on her previous album, Mayhem. The song is included in an extended version of Mayhem, along with two other new tracks, “Can’t Stop the High” and “Kill for Love.” Be sure to check out Lady Gaga’s “The Dead Dance” now!
