Ludacris’ iconic 2000 album, *Back For The First Time*, is getting a vinyl reissue to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Originally released on October 17, 2000, this album marked Luda’s major label debut and established him as a unique voice in hip-hop.
The album features standout production from legends like Organized Noize, Jermaine Dupri, Timbaland, The Neptunes, and Ludacris himself. It includes hit singles like “What’s Your Fantasy” and “Southern Hospitality.” The new vinyl edition comes as a standard black 2LP in a gatefold jacket.
“What’s Your Fantasy?” became a national hit, reaching number 21 on the Hot 100, while “Southern Hospitality” also made waves, peaking at number 23. The album climbed to No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Interestingly, *Back For The First Time* was originally released under a different name. Ludacris signed with Def Jam South in 2000, and the label re-released his underground album, *Incognegro*, with the new title. The album was led by the popular single “What’s Your Fantasy?”
Ludacris first gained attention in 1998 when Timbaland featured him on “Fat Rabbit.” He later released *Incognegro* independently, which caught the attention of Def Jam. The label added new tracks, including a collaboration with U.G.K. and a remix of “Phat Rabbit,” before releasing it as *Back For The First Time*.
