Is the McRib Real or Just a McFake?
Things are heating up at McDonald’s! The fast-food giant is facing a federal class-action lawsuit. Customers claim they were misled into thinking the McRib is made with real pork rib meat.
The lawsuit was filed on December 23 in Illinois. It argues that the name and look of the McRib make people believe it contains actual rib meat. But here’s the twist: it doesn’t. Reports say the main ingredient is “restructured pork” made from parts like shoulder, heart, tripe, and scalded stomach.
In response, a McDonald’s spokesperson told us that the McRib is made with “100 percent boneless pork” along with BBQ sauce, onions, and pickles. They insist that no hearts, tripe, or scalded stomach are included. The spokesperson added, “Our fan-favorite McRib sandwich is made with 100 percent pork sourced from farmers and suppliers across the U.S. We’ve always been transparent about our ingredients.”
The McRib first hit the menu in 1982 and quickly became a favorite. Every time it returns, fans can’t wait to dig in.
