Metallica has released a heartfelt video where each band member shares their memories of hearing Black Sabbath for the first time. This video was filmed before the Back to the Beginning concert on July 5, which featured the original lineup of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne in their final live performance. Following Ozzy’s passing on Tuesday at the age of 76, Metallica chose to share the video now. In the caption, they wrote, “We all have very vivid memories of the first time we listened to Black Sabbath. It changed all of our lives. We love you, Ozzy, and will miss you so, so much.”
Many other musicians have also paid tribute to Ozzy. Slash expressed his sorrow, saying, “It’s with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of the great Ozzy Osbourne. He was an awesome motherf*. We all loved him dearly. I’ll miss him as a friend and a pillar of the spirit of rock n roll. I’m so happy Ozzy had that last show that we all could share with him. RIP.”
Aerosmith shared their grief as well, stating, “We’re heartbroken to hear about the passing of our brother in rock, Ozzy Osbourne. A voice that changed music forever. Our love goes out to Sharon, his family, and the millions around the world who felt his fire. Rock on, Ozzy. You will be missed, but never forgotten!”
Zakk Wylde added, “THANK YOU FOR BLESSING THE WORLD w/YOUR KINDNESS & GREATNESS OZ – YOU BROUGHT LIGHT INTO SO MANY LIVES.”
