The Beatles Anthology is making a comeback in multiple formats—on screen, on record, and in print. The iconic documentary series has been restored and remastered into a nine-part series, with the final episode being brand new. It will stream exclusively on Disney+ starting November 26.
Originally released 30 years ago, the eight-part Anthology series changed the music documentary game. Instead of relying on an outside narrator, it features John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr sharing their own stories, full of complexities and contradictions. This series introduced The Beatles to new fans and sparked a creative revival that continues today.
The Anthology music collections, once curated by George Martin, have been remastered by Giles Martin into three double albums filled with rare material. These albums provide a fascinating look at the early development of songs that became timeless classics.
A new addition, Anthology 4, includes 13 previously unreleased demos and session recordings. It also features fresh mixes of the hit singles “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love,” produced by Jeff Lynne using de-mixed John Lennon vocals. The original “Free As A Bird” music video has been beautifully restored and is available to watch now.
Additionally, the 25th Anniversary Edition of The Beatles Anthology book will be released on October 14 by Apple Corps Ltd. and Chronicle Books. This 368-page bestseller includes over 1,300 photos and documents, along with personal stories from John, Paul, George, and Ringo, as well as insights from their close colleagues.
