Almost 50 years ago, the Rolling Stones kicked off a new chapter with their album *Black and Blue*. To celebrate its upcoming 50th anniversary, the band is releasing a Super Deluxe reissue packed with rare and unreleased material. Set to drop on November 14 via Universal Music, the *Black and Blue* box set will be available in both 5LP and 4CD formats. Each edition includes a Blu-ray disc, a 100-page hardback book, and a replica tour poster.
A limited edition 5LP version on black and blue marbled vinyl will be sold at select online retailers, along with two-disc and one-disc vinyl and CD reissues. There’s even a one-disc zoetrope vinyl version available. All formats are now up for pre-order.
During the *Black and Blue* sessions, the Stones auditioned new guitarists, leading to contributions from Harvey Mandel, Wayne Perkins, Jeff Beck, and Robert A. Johnson. This process ultimately brought Ronnie Wood into the band, who is still with them today. The album also marked a shift in their sound, incorporating reggae, funk, and soul. It produced hits like “Fool To Cry,” “Hot Stuff,” and “Memory Motel.”
The reissue features a new mix of the original album by Steven Wilson and a six-track disc of unreleased recordings, including “I Love A Lady” and a cover of “Shame, Shame, Shame.” You can stream the cover now, with a music video coming on September 25. The box set also includes a live concert recording from their 1975 residency at London’s Earls Court, featuring guest musicians.
Fans will find a previously unreleased TV broadcast of their 1976 performance in Paris on the Blu-ray, along with high-resolution mixes of the studio album and live concert. The package is rounded out with a 100-page book featuring a new essay, exclusive photos, and a replica poster from the Paris concert. Don’t miss out on ordering *Black and Blue*!
