This Day in Rock History: November 10

Nov. 10 is a big day for rock fans, featuring album and single releases from legends like KISS, Patti Smith, and Bruce Springsteen. Here are some key moments in rock history that happened on this day.

1973: Elton John’s seventh studio album, *Goodbye Yellow Brick Road*, hit No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, where it stayed for eight weeks. This was his third U.S. No. 1 album, thanks to hits like “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting,” “Bennie and the Jets,” and the title track.

1979: Fleetwood Mac’s twelfth studio album, *Tusk*, reached No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart. While it didn’t match the success of *Rumours*, it still achieved Platinum status in the U.K., U.S., and other countries.

Nov. 10 also marks the release of some famous songs and albums:

1967: The Moody Blues released their iconic single, “Nights in White Satin,” from the album *Days of Future Passed*. Although it didn’t do well initially, it was reissued in 1972 and climbed to No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

1975: Patti Smith dropped her debut album, *Horses*, through Arista Records. It received critical acclaim but only reached No. 47 on the Billboard 200.

1981: KISS released their ninth studio album, *Music From the Elder*, via Casablanca Records. Initially met with mixed reviews, it has since gained a following as a notable concept album.

1986: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band released the *Live 1975–85* box set through Columbia Records, featuring 40 live tracks from various performances.
