This Day in Top 40 History: March 17  

As we approach the Spring Equinox, we celebrate the sun and longer days with music. March 17 has seen some major moments in pop history.

In 1975, Cher graced the cover of Time Magazine in a stunning gown, marking her as one of the most influential Top 40 artists. Three years later, Elvis Costello released his second album, *This Year’s Model*, which peaked at No. 4 in the U.K. and featured hits like “(insert hit)” and “(insert hit).” That same year, Generation X debuted with their self-titled album, known for its raw punk energy and catchy tunes.

Fast forward to 2018, AJR performed a sold-out show at The Complex in Salt Lake City. The band, made up of brothers, has been making waves since 2013 and achieved Multi-Platinum status. In 2023, Taylor Swift kicked off her highly anticipated Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona. Her three-hour show celebrated her albums and set records with sold-out performances worldwide, wrapping up on December 8, 2024. Also in 2023, Harry Styles lit up the National Stadium in Singapore, showcasing his unique style and hits like “(insert hit)” and “(insert hit).”

On the cultural side, Nat “King” Cole was born in 1919 in Montgomery, Alabama. He went on to have 28 Top 40 hits, including “(insert hit)” and “(insert hit).” In 1988, Grimes, known for her collaborations with stars like The Weeknd, was born in Vancouver.

Notable performances on March 17 include The Coasters recording “(insert hit)” in 1958, which later topped the Billboard R&B chart. March 17 is truly a day to remember in music history!
