This Day in Top 40 History: November 15

On November 15, 2005, Carrie Underwood, just 22 years old, released her debut album, *Some Hearts*, only six months after winning *American Idol*. The album featured hit singles like “Before He Cheats” and “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” leading to over 300,000 copies sold in its first week. It quickly became one of the best-selling albums of 2006 in the U.S. The bonus track “Inside Your Heaven,” which she performed during the *American Idol* finale, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first country artist to achieve this.

This date has seen other significant music moments too. In 1986, the Beastie Boys released *Licensed to Ill*, the first rap album to top the Billboard 200. Its hit “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” reached No. 14 on the U.K. Singles Chart. In 2011, Drake dropped his second album, *Take Care*, featuring stars like Rihanna and Lil Wayne. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with seven singles hitting the Top 40 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

In 2019, Lady A released their album *Ocean*, which debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Its lead single, “What If I Never Get Over You,” hit No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

On this day in 1988, B.o.B. was born in North Carolina. He scored his first No. 1 hit in 2010 with “Nothin’ on You.” In 1990, Rob Pilatus of Milli Vanilli admitted to lip-syncing, which ended their careers and led to their GRAMMY Award being taken away. In 2022, Ticketmaster’s website crashed, causing a stir among fans.
