Thrice Celebrates 25 Years of Music with New Album ‘Horizons/West’

California’s Thrice celebrated their 25-year journey with the release of their 12th album, *Horizons/West*, on October 3. This album wraps up a two-part series that began with *Horizons/East* in 2021. Drummer Riley Breckenridge shared, “We just did what felt right to us. It’s always been about exploration and pushing ourselves and incorporating new influences.” The new music combines raw energy with innovative sounds.

Formed in Orange County, Thrice features Dustin Kensrue on vocals, Teppei Teranishi on various instruments, Eddie Breckenridge on bass, and Riley Breckenridge on drums. They first gained attention with their 1999 EP, *First Impressions*, quickly building a loyal fan base and sparking a bidding war among record labels. Their 2003 album, *The Artist in the Ambulance*, brought them into the mainstream under Island Records. In 2005, they shifted their style with *Vheissu*, adding electronic elements to their sound.

One of their boldest projects was *The Alchemy Index*, a series of four EPs inspired by earth, air, fire, and water, released between 2007 and 2008. They also released *To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere*, which included the hit “Black Honey.” Kensrue expressed, “I feel like there are a lot of people out there who would like our band. They either don’t know who we are, or they had an idea of what we were 25 years ago.”

Standout tracks from *Horizons/West* include “The Dark Glow,” “Distant Suns,” and “Vesper Light.” The album is released through Epitaph Records, following the band’s 20th-anniversary edition of *The Artist in the Ambulance*. Thrice will support the album with shows across the U.S. and Europe. Check their website for tour dates and ticket information.
