Tomahawk Announces Reunion Tour with Melvins: First Tour Since 2013

Tomahawk is hitting the road for their first tour in 13 years, kicking off on July 18 in Nashville. This supergroup features Mike Patton from Faith No More, guitarist Duane Denison from the Jesus Lizard, drummer John Stanier of Helmet and Battles, and bassist Trevor Dunn from Mr. Bungle. They’ll perform 21 shows across the U.S. until August 15.

Joining them as special guests will be the Melvins on the “A Huge Waste of Your Time and Money” tour. The two bands last shared the stage in 2003 during the Geek Show tour. Duane Denison expressed excitement about the tour, saying, “In the spirit of the Olympics, Team Tomahawk has decided to rise up and go for the gold once again. Also competing will be our cohorts, the Melvins.” Buzz Osborne from the Melvins added, “This tour is a no-brainer. I can’t wait. A Melvins/Tomahawk trek will be a stone groove.”

Tomahawk last toured in 2013 to support their album, Oddfellows, which peaked at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums Chart. They released Tonic Immobility in 2021 but never performed the new material live due to the pandemic.

Tomahawk formed in 2001, releasing their self-titled debut that year, followed by Mit Gas in 2003 and Anonymous in 2007. The Melvins lineup includes Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, Steven McDonald from Redd Kross, and Coady Willis.

Tickets go on sale on February 27. The tour will stop in cities like Austin, Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Boston, Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Get ready for an unforgettable summer of music!
