Coffee shop singer doesn’t realize he’s singing with Matisyahu

A Maui resident got quite a surprise while doing an impromptu performance inside a coffee shop.

Kekoa Alama was singing “One Day” by reggae singer Matisyahu.

Then someone else in the shop started singing along. Turns out, it was Matisyahu himself.

The two finished the song, prompting Alama to say, “You have a beautiful voice, man,” not recognizing the artist.

“You know who wrote that song?” Matisyahu asked, before pointing to himself.

Stu Brooks captured the event on video, noting “it took a second for it all to sink in. Loved this moment.”

Matisyahu was in town for the MayJah RayJah music festival on Maui and at the Waikiki Shell.

(We took some photos of Matisyahu a couple weeks ago at the 311 show, but are waiting for them to be approved before we can post them)
