In a new conversation with Terry Hudson on rBeatz, legendary vocalist Geoff Tate shared a humorous look at his daily life, noting the "surreal" experience of how people often fail to recognize him today. Tate recounted instances where he has approached fans wearing Queensrÿche shirts to strike up a conversation about the band, only for them to have "no clue" they are speaking to the group's original frontman. While he finds it flattering when fans do recognize him and share stories of how his music impacted their lives, he admits his change in hairstyle over the last few decades has provided a level of anonymity he finds genuinely interesting.

The interview comes as Tate prepares for the May 3 release of Operation: Mindcrime III, the third chapter in the iconic concept series. Unlike the first two installments, which followed the character Nikki, this new LP tells the story from the perspective of the shadowy Dr. X. The project features a powerhouse lineup, including Disturbed bassist John Moyer and guitarist Kieran Robertson. Fans can already stream the lead single, "Power," which sets the stage for what Tate describes as a "fist in your face" return to his classic hard rock and metal roots.

Collective Soul has announced the upcoming release of a new studio album titled Touch and Go, arriving on April 18. In a notable departure from their signature post-grunge and alternative rock sound, the band has pivoted toward a New Wave-inspired direction, citing The Cars as a primary influence. Frontman Ed Roland shared the band's excitement for the project, which will be released exclusively as a Record Store Day title available only at independent record shops. There are currently no details regarding a wider digital or physical rollout.

The 10-track album features songs such as "Rainbow," "Heavy Load," and "Shooting For You." The release comes in the middle of a busy touring year for the group, who are currently on a North American run that includes stops in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and Atlantic City, New Jersey.
