Taylor Momsen recently reflected on the raw, uncensored mindset behind the band's fifth studio album, Dear God, released last month via Fearless Records.

In an interview with the JJO Discover New Music Podcast, Momsen shared that the songwriting on Dear God pulled straight from her personal life without filter or calculation. "This record is very much almost... It's ripped almost directly from my diary," Momsen revealed. "There's an uncensored-ness to it, which I had to kind of look at—I never thought of it until, like, the day before it came out, and then I went, 'Ah, this is quite exposing. But all right. We're in it. Here we go.' 'Cause I make music and write songs for me."

The band opted to produce the album in-house alongside Jonathan Wyman and guitarist Ben Phillips. Following the tragic passing of their longtime producer Kato Khandwala—whom Momsen described as the band's "fifth member"—the group chose to maintain their core production team rather than bringing in outside influences.

The album's release follows a streak of success, including lead single "For I Am Death" becoming the group's eighth Mainstream Rock Radio No. 1. The Pretty Reckless is currently on the road for their headlining Dear God tour, which follows a massive two-year global run opening for AC/DC on their Power Up tour.

Russian deathcore titans Slaughter To Prevail have unveiled a teaser for their upcoming music video for the track "Koschei," pulled from their latest album GRIZZLY.

Directed by Ave Senshi, the clip dives headfirst into a brutal world of swords and sorcery, matching the track's mythological inspiration. In Slavic folklore, Koschei is a villainous sorcerer known as "Koschei the Deathless," making the barbaric fantasy aesthetic a fitting backdrop for the band's signature heavy sound.

The high-budget video release arrives alongside preparations for the band's upcoming fall North American tour featuring DJ Paul and Rev3rent. Both the video and tour are set to officially close out the GRIZZLY chapter, as Slaughter To Prevail plans to take off a considerable portion of 2027.

Following the passing of his mother, noted activist Mary Morello, at age 102 on July 12th, Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello has officially launched The Mary Morello Memorial Project. The initiative aims to carry forward her lifelong legacy of advocating for peace, justice, and free expression, which famously included founding the anti-censorship organization Parents For Rock And Rap in the late 1980s.

Through the newly established project, the Morello family is inviting friends, family, and supporters to honor Mary’s memory both through charitable donations and direct community involvement. Between now and October 1st—which would have marked her 103rd birthday—Tom is urging people to engage in "caring, service & action" by volunteering, protesting, speaking out, walking picket lines, or creating political art and music. Supporters are encouraged to share their efforts on Instagram by tagging @MaryMorelloMemorialProject.

The memorial project directly supports various causes and organizations that were deeply meaningful to Mary throughout her life. This includes humanitarian and social relief efforts like Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), The Midnight Mission, All Chicago, and Corazón con Cuba, as well as community advocacy groups such as the UFW Foundation, Jail Guitar Doors USA, Center for Native American Youth (CNAY), and animal rescue organization Orphans of the Storm.

Beastie Boys co-founder Mike D is heavily expanding his return to the live stage. Following the initial announcement of a tight five-show run, the legendary artist has added 10 new dates apiece in North America and Europe for his upcoming tour with his live band, Mike D 5D.

The family-and-friends outfit features Will Graefe, Eddie and Milo Ruscha, and Mike D's sons, Skyler and Davis Diamond. The upcoming trek supports his debut solo studio album, Thank You, which is set to drop on August 28th via Capitol Records. Marking the first full-length album release from a Beastie Boys member since 2011's Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, the record explores post-electronic grooves, analog synth beats, and garage-punk energy across 13 tracks.

The tour officially kicks off in Boston on August 30th—just two days after the album hits shelves—before routing across major markets in the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe through November.

Anthrax are taking their love of the medium to the next level by officially chronicling their four-decade career in graphic novel form. The thrash pioneers have reunited with publisher Z2 for NOT: The Illustrated Oral History of Anthrax, an original graphic album set to hit shelves on March 16, 2027.

Featuring firsthand accounts directly from Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Frank Bello, Joey Belladonna, and Jon Donais, the 108-page book explores the band's history from their early days through modern times. Highlights include their friendships with a young Metallica and Pantera, their historic collaboration with Public Enemy, and their infamous guest appearance on Married… With Children.

A stacked roster of legendary comic artists brought the band's memories to life, including Brian Bolland (Judge Dredd), Peter Bagge (Hate), Jay Howell (Bob’s Burgers), Danny Hellman, Brent Engstrom (Garbage Pail Kids), and more.

"Being a band for 40+ years you have stories, you have experiences, and the way we're telling the stories and experiences with Z2 is a great way for us and the fans to actually visualize these little stories in comic book form," says drummer Charlie Benante. Canadian rock icons Rush are reportedly in deep negotiations to bring their legendary catalog to the state-of-the-art Sphere in Las Vegas. According to The Sun's Bizarre column, the band has been quietly negotiating with Sphere executives for a while, with insider sources indicating a final deal could be officially signed within the next couple of weeks.

Adding fuel to the fire, long-time radio host Eddie Trunk recently shared on his SiriusXM show that the Sphere residency is practically a "done deal," reporting that the run is expected to span between 16 and 18 performances scheduled for 2027.

In a new interview, 28-year-old model and reigning Miss World Chile 2025 Ignacia Fernández opened up about the unique path that led her to become the founder and harsh vocalist of Chilean progressive death metal band DECESSUS. Fernández, who recently went viral for blasting out extreme metal vocals in a ball gown during the pageant's talent semifinals, is currently gearing up to represent her country at the 75th Miss World 2026 finals in Vietnam this September.

While extreme metal and traditional beauty pageants rarely cross paths, Fernández viewed the competition as an invaluable platform to bring a voice to her social projects, particularly animal rights. Backed on stage by her bandmate, guitarist Carlos Palma, her shocking semifinal performance completely blindsided the audience and judges, ultimately earning her a standing ovation and the national crown.

Her transition into extreme music began at a young age, heavily inspired by seeing women fronting metal bands. Watching a live video of Arch Enemy performing "Nemesis" in Japan was the first time she realized a woman could do death metal vocals, later finding primary inspiration in Alissa White-Gluz's work with The Agonist.

Despite her commanding presence today, Fernández admitted that her first steps into live performance were incredibly daunting. Her anxiety before DECESSUS's first live gig was so severe that she hid in a nearby park and actively mapped out an escape plan to go home, only to be talked back into the venue by her best friend right before playing a sold-out show. Attendees at Creed’s "Summer Of ’99 And Beyond Festival" in Tinley Park, Illinois, got a massive dose of nostalgia and comedy last night, July 18th, when the cast of Super Troopers crashed Limp Bizkit's set.

Members of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe marched onto the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre stage fully in-character, initially acting like they were there to shut down the performance due to a "noise complaint". The playful bit quickly escalated, culminating in the comedy crew joining the nu-metal icons for a chaotic, set-closing performance of their legendary anthem "Break Stuff".

The surprise appearance served as a promotional stunt for the upcoming August 7th theatrical release of Super Troopers 3. However, the festival appearance itself marked a massive milestone for Limp Bizkit. Their presence on the lineup officially signals that their infamous, decades-old feud with festival headliners Creed has finally been buried for good.

This marks the second major comedic crossover for Limp Bizkit this month, following an onstage collaboration earlier in July where they brought out Canadian comedian Tom Green to perform "Rollin’".
