Appearing on BBC Radio 1 with host Jack Saunders ahead of the premiere of "Arsenal," Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor offered insight into the aggressive new track and the creative direction of the band's next chapter.

The surprise release marks several major milestones for the Iowa nine: their first output since parting ways with turntablist Sid Wilson, their first recorded material featuring drummer Eloy Casagrande, and the debut release on their newly minted imprint, (sic)est Records, launched in partnership with Roadrunner Records/Atlantic.

Taylor described the track's relentless energy and teased the sonic shifts fans can expect as sessions continue with producer Matt Wallace:

"It pummels. I mean it is absolutely a pummeling experience… Like it’s got these great moments of hyperactivity and then complete flex. It’s like we’ve got everyone by the hair and we’re just going, ‘Go, Go, Go!’

We’re definitely exploring the realm that we’ve kind of been in for a long time, and bringing in elements that we have never done before… People are gonna be like when they hear it, ‘There’s no way that’s Slipknot. There is no actual way that that is Slipknot.’ I’m here to tell you 100%, you’re damn right it is."

With Wallace co-producing and mixing, the band remains hard at work tracking their forthcoming eighth studio album.

Grunge and punk icons L7 have confirmed that former bassist Janis Tanaka will rejoin the band for their upcoming farewell run, "The Last Hurrah" tour, stepping in following the tragic death of longtime bassist Jennifer Finch this past July.

The band shared that Tanaka—who previously held down bass duties for L7 from 1999 to 2001—returns with the full blessing of Finch prior to her passing:

“Although we will miss our Jennifer Finch terribly, she gave her blessing to welcome back L7’s bass player Janis Tanaka to replace her. Janis was our bass player from 1999-2001 and we are stoked to have her back and rocking with us again. LOOK OUT, she kicks ass! Please give Janis a warm welcome back!”

Finch passed away on July 18 at age 59 following a battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Her upcoming memoir, Shooting Up And Making Out: A Memoir Of My Life In LA And L7, is scheduled for release on January 19, 2027.

AC/DC's scheduled September 16 concert at Toronto’s 50,000-capacity Rogers Stadium has officially been canceled after an extreme storm caused extensive damage across the grounds.

The severe weather event on September 2—described by on-site meteorologists as a suspected microburst and a "100-year storm"—left large sections of stadium bleachers collapsed, temporary structures destroyed, and debris scattered across the facility. Following an engineering assessment conducted with the City of Toronto, officials determined the impacted areas must be completely removed and rebuilt.

Wayne Zronik, President of Business Operations for Live Nation Canada, addressed the difficult decision:

"Cancelling a concert is never a decision we want to make, and we know how disappointing this will be for all of us who have been looking forward to seeing AC/DC close out our summer season. Safety has to come first. Our teams have been working closely with the City and our partners to understand the storm damage and what needs to happen next. The right decision is to take the time to remove and rebuild the affected parts of the stadium to ensure it is ready to welcome fans next summer."

All tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be automatically refunded, while fans who secured seats via third-party resale platforms are advised to contact their original point of purchase.

The surviving members of Soundgarden—guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron, and bassist Ben Shepherd—took the field last night at Seattle's Lumen Field for a special halftime performance during the Seattle Seahawks' season opener against the New England Patriots.

Filling the towering shoes of the late Chris Cornell was The Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen, who joined the trio alongside Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready for an explosive medley of grunge classics "Outshined" and "Spoonman."

Prior to kickoff, McCready also kicked off the festivities by performing a blistering, Jimi Hendrix-inspired rendition of the U.S. National Anthem, later remarking on the pressure:

"It's way scary in a way, because I want to do it right and I don't want to mess it up, so that's going through my head every time. I've done it a bunch of times; I just want to do it how I do it, and hopefully it means something, and I do it right, so there's pressure there."

The halftime performance follows their memorable collaboration at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony late last year. Meanwhile, Thayil, Cameron, and Shepherd continue work on the final Soundgarden album featuring unreleased Chris Cornell vocal tracks, collaborating with longtime producer Terry Date and mixer Joe Barresi.

Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee is heading to Burbank, California for a rare appearance at the Son Of Monsterpalooza horror convention. Poison frontman Bret Michaels has provided an encouraging health update following his recent medical emergency, outlining his measured strategy to get back on stage later this year.

Michaels was sidelined in mid-July after severe pain forced him into emergency surgery for an unpassable kidney stone. While he initially attempted a quick return at The Bowl at Sugar Hill, post-show evaluations by medical personnel prompted his team to cancel the remainder of his 2026 tour on August 22 to allow for proper recovery.

Taking to Instagram, Michaels shared that he is channeling a positive mindset into setting realistic physical goals:

"On this good vibes Terrific Tuesday, it is time to practice what I preach: to stand strong, rock on and remain unbroken... To take all of my crazy energy & keep it positive, I have to set goals, and my goal is to know that I can get back on that stage, no matter what I’m going through and rock the world and pick things I love to do & do them and not sweat the technique."

Rather than launching a full-scale tour immediately, Michaels revealed he is working with promoters on a cautious, physician-monitored approach:

"Stay tuned before the end of the year, as a few promoters and I are working on announcing a couple of Road to Recovery comeback shows in up-close & personal venues that I love to perform at as a real-world stress test to see where I’m at physically, all of it done under incredible medical guidance – sometime in October, November, December. And, as you know, I’ll give every ounce of energy on that stage because without passion, purpose and a project, as well as good family, friends and fans surrounding you… What’s the point? Let’s rock!!!"

While official dates and locations have not yet been announced, more details regarding the intimate dates are expected before the year wraps up.

In an interview with Lipps Service, Tom Morello reflected on the early formation of Rage Against the Machine, shedding light on a surprising connection to Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan.

Tracing the band's roots back to his initial partnership with drummer Brad Wilk, Morello revealed that before their iconic lineup fully locked into place, the pair auditioned various musicians—including an early jam session with Keenan in a bedroom:

"We began jamming with different bass players and singers, including Maynard at one point. It was in some 18-year-old bass player’s bedroom — me, Brad, Maynard, and some guy named Noah jamming. There’s a recording somewhere. Some of those riffs later ended up elsewhere. Maynard’s the dude who taught me how to do drop-D tuning."

Morello explained that after Keenan introduced him to the tuning while playing a guitar riff that would eventually evolve into Tool’s signature track "Sober," Morello immediately fired back with an idea of his own:

"Those two were sort of a song one afternoon. The first riff I played after learning it became Rage Against the Machine’s 'Freedom.' When Rage later became a band, I jokingly asked Maynard for my half of the idea back."

The anecdote reveals how intertwined Los Angeles' alternative and heavy music scenes were in 1991, just as Rage Against the Machine and Tool were solidifying the lineups that would define a decade of rock.

Heavy metal giants PANTERA have officially announced The Great Nola Trendkill, a massive two-day festival taking over the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans on November 20 and 21.

Presented by Housecore Horror, Housecore Records, and Live Nation, the event marks PANTERA’s first performance in New Orleans in 30 years, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their seminal 1996 record, The Great Southern Trendkill.

The historic weekend also doubles as the official record release show for DOWN's Volume V, alongside a powerhouse lineup of heavy music royalty:
