The diamond-certified hard rock outfit will headline a trio of special dates, kicking off with back-to-back nights at Fontainebleau Las Vegas alongside Tim Montana before heading to the Yaamava’ Theater in Highland, California.

Artist presales begin Wednesday, August 12, at 10:00 AM PST.

Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Jeff Gutt recently opened up about the band's current status, revealing that while he believes new music is in the works, he would be completely satisfied even if the band focused solely on their iconic catalog moving forward.

Speaking with Rocking With Jam Man, Gutt reflected on setlist choices and noted that playing classic hits often takes priority over newer material—a choice he sometimes prefers live to preserve his vocal range. He pointed out how shifting music consumption habits on streaming platforms have changed how audiences connect with new releases compared to classic eras.

"STP songs are STP songs, you know what I mean?" Gutt shared. "To me, it's not about my glory or my fame or whatever it is. To me, it's just about the music and the songs that connect and the songs that people love."

Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor recently opened up on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk regarding the band's upcoming ninth studio album, Marrow Deep, revealing that none of late former guitarist Brent Hinds' musical ideas appear on the record.

Speaking on the creative process behind the release, Dailor explained that while the group always left the door open for Hinds to contribute during writing sessions, he was mostly absent while dealing with personal challenges and pursuing other interests. As a result, the skeleton of the new record was forged entirely by the remaining core trio—Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Troy Sanders—before bringing in new members João Nogueira and guitarist Nick Johnston to help refine the tracks.

"We don’t have any material from him that is on the new record," Dailor shared. "So it’s solely the three of us kind of creating everything from the ground up, and then getting the new members involved towards the end to sort of, quote-unquote, ‘punch up’ the songs."

Arriving August 28 via Loma Vista Recordings, Marrow Deep marks the band's first full-length album following Hinds' departure and subsequent passing. The emotional release is dedicated to the memory of both Hinds and Dailor's mother, Michele J. Lawrence.

ZZ Top's longtime drummer Frank Beard is dealing with health issues that recently forced the cancellation of the band's scheduled performance at the Hollywood Bowl.

A representative for the iconic Texas rock group confirmed to Rolling Stone that while Beard takes time away, frontman Billy Gibbons and bassist Elwood Francis will continue touring with drummer Michael Monahan filling in behind the kit. The brief tour interruption comes after Beard previously stepped back for health reasons in recent years, with tech member John Douglas previously stepping up to cover dates.

Beard, who famously remains the only member of ZZ Top without a full signature beard, has been the rhythmic anchor of the band for over 55 years, playing on every single studio album since their 1971 debut.

"Insurmountable obstacles require canceling our Hollywood Bowl performance," Gibbons shared in a statement. "Friends, fans and followers of ZZ TOP are the best in the business and the band is counting on everyone to bear with us for this brief interruption."

Alternative metal outfit Vended is officially in the shed working on their next chapter, but frontman Griffin Taylor says the band is taking a much more measured approach this time around.

Speaking at the Bloodstock Open Air festival, Taylor reflected on the process behind the band's 2024 self-titled debut album, noting that while they put immense thought into it, they were rushing to get the ball rolling. For their sophomore effort, the band—which also features drummer Simon Crahan, son of Slipknot's M. Shawn "Clown" Crahan—is purposefully slowing down to refine their vision and message.

"With this next era of Vended, we’ve had a lot of time to take our time with it," Taylor shared. "We’ve been able to pace ourselves and really focus on what we’re trying to say and what we’re trying to do... we’re in the tool shed, fucking getting shit put together, and it’s just taking a lot of time now, and we’re wanting it that way."

While keeping specific details under wraps to maintain an air of mystery, Taylor confirmed that new material is actively being forged as the group builds toward their next era.

Horror-metal heavyweights Ice Nine Kills are heading back to Universal Studios Hollywood this fall to provide an all-new soundtrack for Halloween Horror Nights.

The band is creating new music—putting a dark twist on classic Christmas songs—for the "Terror Tram starring Art the Clown." The attraction follows the Terrifier slasher as he hijacks the historic backlot tram for his own twisted holiday celebration. The pairing continues the band's collaboration with the franchise following "A Work of Art," their official track for Terrifier 3.

"Halloween Horror Nights is among our favorite destinations each season, and our fans love it, too," shared frontman Spencer Charnas. "This is yet another natural step forward in our unnatural world of horror."

The event opens Thursday, September 3, and runs select nights through Sunday, November 1.

Otep Shamaya is officially preparing her return to music, though listeners shouldn't expect the heavy nu-metal sound that defined her namesake band, Otep.

In a social media update shared with fans, Shamaya confirmed that she is working on a new creative endeavor following her 2024 retirement announcement. While stepping away from the heavy metal landscape to explore fresh creative terrain, she emphasized that the heart, message, and atmosphere of her work remain unchanged. The upcoming material will tackle her recent mental health struggles, growing up queer, equity, and survival.

"I’m proud of all my albums & everything I contributed to that space," Shamaya shared. "But it’s changed, I’ve changed and new creative terrain was necessary for my creative engine & my sanity... Some will hate it, they want the girl who goes grrrr, others will love it, but I have to stay true to my self."

Shamaya revealed she has one demo near completion, though she is taking advice from her team to refine the mix before officially dropping it to the public.
