Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian is calling out rock and metal bands who exploit farewell claims just to boost concert attendance and cash in on loyal listeners. Speaking on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, the thrash veteran made it clear that Anthrax will not use retirement gimmicks to sell records or book live dates.

Ian addressed the recurring trend of musicians announcing an end only to invent reasons to return down the road.

"Don’t you think, if that was the plan, we would play that card, like so many other bands have, and say, 'This is it. Look, the album title says it. Our journey is over, so you better buy this one and you better go buy tickets. We’re only gonna tour now and do this for five more years,'" Ian said. "And then make an excuse why, 'Well, we said the journey was over, but it was only kind of over. So now we’re making another record.'"

Ian added that while critics frequently claim retired groups leave money on the table, Anthrax has made no retirement declarations and has no intention of playing that game.

Which bands do you think are most guilty of pulling off a fake farewell tour?

Linkin Park turntablist Joe Hahn is tuning out the chatter regarding the band recruiting Emily Armstrong for their major comeback. Speaking in an interview with NME, Hahn addressed whether introducing a female vocalist to step into the role formerly held by the late Chester Bennington brought unexpected pushback or accusations of an agenda during the rollout of From Zero.

Hahn explained that outside talk holds zero weight when it comes to the group's internal decisions and artistic direction.

"All that kind of stuff just goes in one ear and out the other because I know that we’re doing something pretty cool. We’re not doing it to please people. We just know that it’s the right thing to do for us, and in turn it’s going to be the right thing for so many others out there," Hahn stated.

How do you feel about the band moving forward with Emily Armstrong on vocals?

Tom Morello brought his hard-hitting solo catalog to national television this week, delivering an electrifying performance of "Soldier in the Army of Love" on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Broadcasting from the Brooklyn Academy of Music during Kimmel's annual week of Brooklyn shows, the legendary Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave guitarist took the stage sporting his trademark cap, aviator shades, and signature fretboard pyrotechnics. Backing Morello was a full live band that prominently featured his teenage son Roman, who co-wrote the track and traded blistering riffs alongside his father.

The anthem serves as a centerpiece from Morello's latest full-length solo rock record, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, which arrived last week featuring an eclectic roster of guest collaborators including Serj Tankian, Beartooth, and Kneecap.

Nikki Sixx has broken his long-standing political silence to take a firm stand against reported federal plans impacting Yosemite National Park. The Mötley Crüe bassist posted a direct video message addressing federal proposals to hand over portions of the park to a private developer for road construction.

Sixx emphasized that protecting natural landmarks transcends partisan lines, reflecting on his own family ties to the park just minutes from his home.

"This isn't a left or right issue," Sixx said. "This is simply wrong. We live less than 30 minutes from our national park, and as a family—with our friends—we've spent countless adventures there making memories. The same kind of memories families have been making in our national parks for generations, and hopefully will continue making for generations to come."

"These places belong to all of us," Sixx added. "They're part of our history, our childhoods, our families and our future. To think that what's described in this video is happening to our national parks is heartbreaking."

Slipknot is deep into tracking their forthcoming eighth studio album, marking their debut release under their newly launched (sic)est Records imprint. While longtime fans continue to plead for the sonic brutality of the band's earliest output, guitarist Jim Root has made it clear that the masked collective refuses to tread familiar ground.

"We're really experimenting with different approaches... don't expect another 'Iowa' or 'self titled' record. We've been there. The vibe feels honest and true to me. It's uneasy and reminds me of recording in the earlier days."

Root explained that the band is stripping away modern overproduction, avoiding excessive guitar layering and cutting analog tracks live on the floor with drummer Eloy Casagrande to capture the rawest possible energy.

Are you excited to hear Slipknot push into fresh sonic territory, or were you holding out for a return to their classic era?

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has revealed that rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires are eyeing a return to the recording studio sometime after the start of 2027.

The band—featuring Perry alongside Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and guitarist Tommy Henriksen—has frequently balanced dense individual schedules spanning international tours and film sets. Should the project move forward, it will mark the all-star outfit's third studio album, following their 2015 self-titled debut and 2019's Rise.

The studio discussions come on the heels of the group's 2026 European trek, which marked their first live performances in nearly three years and featured massive stops including London's O2 Arena. While the band was unable to include U.S. dates on their recent itinerary, Perry indicated that the next chapter could bring both new music and an expanded return to the stage.

Are you eager to hear a new studio album from Hollywood Vampires, and are you hoping they bring their next tour to the States? Let us know in the comments below.

Evanescence was officially presented with a Sold Out Award during their September 25 performance at the Velodrom in Berlin, Germany, celebrating the sweeping success of the European leg of the Evanescence World Tour 2026.

Promoter PRK DreamHaus honored the band onstage during the trek, which marks Eventim Live's first major pan-European touring acquisition across territories including Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, and Portugal. The milestone follows an equally dominant North American run that saw the group move massive crowds at venues like Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre, Pine Knob Music Theatre, and a sold-out Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

Evanescence is wrapping up their final European dates before heading stateside for appearances at Sick New World Texas and Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre next month, leading into Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and headline festival slots at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in 2027.

Have you caught Evanescence on their 2026 world tour, or are you planning to see them on the road next year? Share your concert memories in the comments below.

August Burns Red frontman Jake Luhrs recently opened up about self-improvement, evolving beyond unhealthy habits, and the inspiration driving the track "The Nameless" from the band's latest album, Season of Surrender.

Speaking with Brenton Harris of Australia's A Peek Behind The Lines, Luhrs emphasized that true change must originate from within rather than waiting on the world around you:

"I am on a journey of just trying to become a better person. And so I'm always looking at and reflecting on things that, like, maybe there's habits that I have that aren't healthy. 'Cause as we grow or we move into growth in our lives, there's old ways that aren't gonna necessarily fit where we're trying to go or who we're trying to be. And so I think that there's a season of surrendering those things and healing or moving past them or growing. So, yeah, I'm a firm believer that if you want the world to change or if you wanna change the world, you have to start with yourself."

Luhrs also reflected on his extensive work as an advocate for mental health, highlighting how supporting others creates a vital cycle of mutual perspective, empathy, and genuine community:

"When you give to others, when you help them, or when you encourage other people... it's cyclical. And it's funny, because sometimes when you share your story with somebody or you're helping somebody out and then they kind of tell you what they're going through, they speak to you... That's just community, my brother. That's what humans are for. They're for connection. And I think if we spent more time in human connection, there would be less of a need for mental health because there would be more love and there would be more unification and more grace and understanding, patience, and less division."

How has August Burns Red's music or Jake Luhrs' advocacy impacted your personal journey? What are your standout tracks from Season of Surrender? Let us know in the comments below.
