Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee has opened up about the bitter legal battle between the band and founding guitarist Mick Mars following Mars's retirement from touring.

Speaking on Billy Corgan's The Magnificent Others podcast, Lee described the experience as deeply painful and uncomfortable, comparing the band's split with Mars to a messy divorce. He expressed sympathy for Mars's ongoing fight with Ankylosing Spondylitis, acknowledging how much the severe spinal disease impacted the guitarist's ability to perform. At the same time, Lee defended the band's decision to bring in John 5, crediting him with revitalizing their live performances after Mars struggled on stage during The Stadium Tour.

"For me, that whole thing was awkward and really hurtful... I got nothing but love for that guy—nothing but love," Lee shared. "I have to give props to John 5, because him coming in was the exact shot of adrenaline and life and energy and fire that we were missing."

The comments follow a final arbitration award issued earlier this year that ruled entirely in favor of Mötley Crüe, confirming Mars forfeited rights to touring revenue after stepping down and ordering him to repay unrecouped tour advances.

Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman and actor Jared Leto is facing renewed scrutiny following the release of a new BBC documentary titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret.

In the documentary, four women have come forward alleging sexual misconduct, sexual assault, and statutory rape occurring when they were minors. Four additional women in the project claim Leto engaged in sexually inappropriate phone conversations with them when they were younger, while two former Thirty Seconds to Mars employees voiced concerns regarding his behavior around teenage girls. The claims span incidents alleged to have occurred between 2002 and 2016.

Leto has firmly denied all allegations featured in the documentary, issuing a statement to The Hollywood Reporter:

"I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false."

The new claims follow a similar exposé published by Air Mail in 2025, in which nine women brought forward allegations against the singer.

Filmmaker and Society 1 frontman Matt Zane has escalated his public war with the Static-X camp by leaking social media video footage of Edsel Dope.

The leaked clips appear to feature Edsel discussing the addiction struggles of late frontman Wayne Static and his late wife Tera Wray, as well as how those issues inspired the Project Regeneration Vol. 2 track "Z0mbie". In his post, Zane alleged that the animated music video for "Z0mbie" intentionally mocked the couple's struggles. Additional clips show Edsel allegedly discussing taking over Wayne's role in the band, which Zane suggested points to alternative motives behind the Static-X reunion.

Zane, who documented the final years of Wayne and Tera's lives, has been embroiled in legal battles after receiving cease-and-desist letters from the couple's estates and the band regarding his unauthorized documentary. Neither Edsel Dope nor the Static-X camp have publicly addressed the leaked video.

Godsmack have officially expanded their massive "The Rise Of Rock" world tour, announcing a newly added 10-date U.S. run scheduled for October 2026. Hard rock outfit Dorothy will join as direct support and special guest for the entire fall leg.

The newly announced dates kick off October 9th in Airway Heights, Washington, and take the band through major markets, including Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, and Atlantic City. The run wraps up on October 24th with a return to Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut—the venue that serves as the namesake for their live album and concert film, Live At Mohegan Sun.

The news follows a massive summer run for Godsmack, who are currently touring across Europe with their revamped lineup featuring vocalist Sully Erna, bassist Robbie Merrill, guitarist Sam Koltun, and former Dream Theater drummer Mike Mangini.

Presales for the October dates begin Wednesday, July 29th (using presale code LEGENDS), followed by the general public onsale on Friday, July 31st at 10 a.m. local time.

Metal fans are in for a wild ride this Halloween as Universal Studios unveils an all-original haunted house celebrating the legacy of the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne.

Titled "Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness," the attraction will debut at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood for the upcoming Halloween Horror Nights season. Developed in close collaboration with the Osbourne family, each coast will offer a distinct experience featuring tracks across six of his iconic solo albums—including Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon, No More Tears, Scream, and Ordinary Man.

Hollywood's attraction takes fans on a chronological journey starting in Ozzy's hometown of Birmingham, England, before heading into the "Osbourne Asylum". Orlando visitors will board the "Crazy Train" for a twisted trip through realms inspired by album artwork like The Ultimate Sin and Black Rain. The experience joins a terrifying lineup that includes houses themed around Evil Dead Burn, Hellraiser, Stranger Things 5, and Sinners.

The haunted house opens August 28th in Orlando and September 3rd in Hollywood.

Black Sabbath guitar legend Tony Iommi has officially announced his new solo album, From The Dark, set for global release via BMG.

The album sees Iommi joining forces with acclaimed Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, who shares co-writing credits across the entire record. The effort also features bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil, with co-production handled by Iommi's longtime collaborator Mike Exeter. Coinciding with the announcement, Iommi premiered the album's lead single, "World Alone," during a global streaming event in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

"It's an album we've really enjoyed making. We're not trying to prove anything — it's a great album, it rocks!" Iommi shared.

A limited-edition seven-inch single for "World Alone" will arrive on September 4th, with From The Dark releasing across multiple deluxe physical vinyl and CD formats.

Rock legends Jimmy Eat World and indie favorites The Format are joining forces for an exclusive performance at the iconic Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, November 7th.

The landmark show will see Jimmy Eat World perform their acclaimed 2001 album Bleed American in its entirety for its 25th anniversary, featuring hits like "The Middle" and "Sweetness". Joining them are fellow Arizona natives The Format, led by Nate Ruess and Sam Means, who will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their sophomore record Dog Problems.

The special concert marks the first time both groups will share the Hollywood Bowl stage together, as well as one of only two full-album performances scheduled for The Format this year. Grunge icons Soundgarden have officially entered the mixing phase for their final studio album featuring late frontman Chris Cornell.

Surviving members Matt Cameron, Kim Thayil, and Ben Shepherd spent the past year fleshing out recordings intended for the release alongside producer Terry Date, with mixer Joe Barresi now overseeing the eight-track album. Following years of delay caused by grief and a resolved legal dispute over the demo tapes, drummer Matt Cameron confirmed on the Let There Be Talk podcast that the band is using a mix of Cornell's demo vocals and live rehearsal guitar tracks to finish the record.

While a release date has not yet been set as mixing wraps up, Cameron noted that the material feels classic to their legacy:

"We're just taking it one step at a time 'cause it's been kind of a long process just to get to here," Cameron shared. "I think at this stage of the game, we’ve been listening to it so much that I think we’ve built a little bit of a callus up to the emotional side of it... And it sounds like Soundgarden. It’s just like we’re working on a Soundgarden album."

Halestorm has shared footage of frontwoman Lzzy Hale delivering a speech during the grand opening of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's newest exhibit featurette, "Women in Metal: You Will Know My Name."

The exhibit, curated by Assistant Curator Haley Cronin, honors the pioneering women who have pushed boundaries and shaped heavy music. To launch the featurette, Hale and Halestorm guitarist Joe Hottinger delivered an acoustic performance before Hale addressed the crowd with a powerful message honoring the women who paved the way and encouraging young girls to carve out their own paths in heavy music.

"Metal was never built for molds. It was built for the people who refuse to fit inside them," Hale shared during her speech. "So take up space, make noise, write the song, start the band, miss the note, try again, but don't ever give up. Because when someone dares tell you that you don't belong here, remember something: we are not asking for a seat at the table, we are building the next table."

The "Women in Metal" exhibit features artifacts from key figures across the genre, including Lita Ford, Lzzy Hale, Alissa White-Gluz, Taylor Momsen, and Courtney LaPlante.
