Sevendust frontman Lajon Witherspoon has opened up about the emotional "rollercoaster" and personal history that shaped the band’s fifteenth studio album, One, which arrived on May 1 via Napalm Records. In a new interview with France's Loud TV, Witherspoon described the record as a "collage" that marks a high point in the band's career, fueled by their collective maturity and life experiences.

The vocalist touched on the deeper meanings behind the lyrics, specifically the "scars" that define a person's strength. When asked about his deepest personal scar, Witherspoon spoke candidly about the loss of his younger brother, Reginald, who was tragically killed in Nashville in 2002. Brady Ebert, the co-founding guitarist of Turnstile, is facing the possibility of life in prison after a Montgomery County grand jury upgraded his charges to include attempted first-degree murder. The indictment, handed down on Thursday, April 30, 2026, stems from a March 29 incident in which Ebert allegedly used his vehicle to strike 79-year-old William Yates, the father of Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates.

According to police reports and a statement from the band, the attack followed years of escalating threats and "harmful behavior" that led to Ebert’s departure from the group in 2022. Detectives allege that Ebert arrived at the Yates' home, yelled obscenities, and honked his horn before intentionally driving into the elder Yates in his own driveway.
