AMC Theatres is teaming up with horror-metal heavyweights Ice Nine Kills and Bloody Disgusting to bring iconic horror classics back to the big screen this October with the "Welcome to Horrorwood" AMC Thrills & Chills series.

Taking place across approximately 300 AMC locations nationwide, the monthlong event celebrates films that inspired songs on the band's landmark albums The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood. Each screening features an exclusive introduction by frontman Spencer Charnas, followed by the band's corresponding music video and the feature film:

Friday the 13th (1980): October 9 & October 13

American Psycho (2000): October 16 & October 20

Pet Sematary (1989): October 23 & October 27

The Crow (1994): October 30 & October 31

Tom Morello’s Power to the People festival has expanded its lineup for the upcoming one-day event on October 3rd at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. New additions to the bill include Geezer Butler, Stephen Stills, Nathaniel Rateliff, Mike McCready, Scott Ian, State Radio, and The Last Internationale. Billed as a celebration of peace, love, justice, music, and community, the festival promises a huge day of live music.

The newly added artists join a stacked lineup that already features Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Public Enemy, Brittany Howard, Jack Black, Serj Tankian, and a special performance from Bruce Springsteen. In addition to the musical performances, the festival will host Freedom Village, an immersive space highlighting civic engagement with participating organizations such as the ACLU, Rock the Vote, and Oxfam.

Trafalgar Releasing and Mercury Studios have announced the worldwide cinematic release of "Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning." The upcoming event film captures the legendary final live performance from Ozzy Osbourne and the original Black Sabbath lineup. Cinema screenings are set to begin globally on October 28, 2026, with tickets going on sale September 24.

The landmark concert took place at Birmingham's Villa Park stadium, marking the original band's first performance together in over 20 years. Filmed just 17 days before Ozzy's passing, the historic night featured a solo performance alongside the Sabbath reunion, hosted by Jason Momoa with Tom Morello serving as musical director.

Dave Mustaine has shared his perspective on what a modern "Big Four" of thrash metal would look like, pointing to three veteran heavyweights and a potential modern wildcard.

Speaking in an interview with Óčko, the Megadeth frontman acknowledged that while any alternative wouldn't necessarily represent a younger generation, the legacy and caliber of these bands speak for themselves:

“Well, it wouldn’t be a young generation, but I do believe that there are ways to do a new ‘Big Four.’ I think that Testament, I think Overkill, I think Exodus, and maybe Trivium; I don’t know. Trivium’s not really a thrash metal band, so I’d have to think about that. But I think those other three guys would be really great.”

Mustaine detailed his long-standing personal and musical ties to each act:

“Overkill is really important on the East Coast metal scene. Exodus, of course, I love Exodus. And I’ve been friends with Gary [Holt] longest of all people that I’ve been friends with in the music industry. And Testament... Eric [Peterson], Alex [Skolnick], those guys are really great guitar players. And I love when we get a chance to play with the band.”

The debate arrives as the history of the original lineup—Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax—gets a fresh look in the upcoming book Heavy Metal’s Big Four: How Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth Transformed Metal, scheduled to release on November 10.

Smith & Myers have officially announced their return to the road, unveiling a massive winter tour that marks the duo's first run together in four years.

Featuring Brent Smith and Zach Myers of Shinedown alongside singer-songwriter Brian Dunne, the cross-country trek kicks off December 1 in St. Augustine, Florida, and runs through February 5 in Seattle. The schedule is also highlighted by four special "Unwrapped" radio shows with stops in St. Augustine, Minneapolis, Jersey City, and Baltimore.

Ed Sheeran has released an extensive statement addressing Macklemore’s departure from his stadium tour, clarifying that the removal was decided by concert promoters and venues rather than by him personally.

Sheeran explained that following Macklemore’s performances at his New Jersey concerts, upcoming venues—including Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft—warned that future tour dates would be canceled if Macklemore remained on the bill. Sheeran noted that despite extensive efforts throughout the week to find common ground, the venues and promoters held the final contractual authority:

"After Macklemore’s performances at my New Jersey shows, venues on my upcoming tour dates communicated that they would pull the shows if he was still supporting. I was informed that this stance was based on how Macklemore conveyed part of his message during his performance, rather than on everything that was said. I spoke with the venues at length all week to try and build a bridge. One of those people was Robert Kraft. I was also involved in direct talks with promoters along with activists on both sides to try and find a mutual resolution for all, but the venue's and promoter's decision was final.

Macklemore coming off tour was the promoter's decision, it was not mine. Macklemore’s contract for the tour was with the promoter, not me. I would never let down the fans who had made plans, nor would I abandon the touring crew and the other support acts and musicians who rely on me for work and to make a living."

Addressing accusations of silence or complicity regarding the conflict between Israel and Palestine, Sheeran defended his decision to keep his professional platform separate from political discourse:

"I am appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The suffering and pain caused on both sides is a human tragedy... I am not complicit. I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn't mean I don't have them, and it doesn't mean I don't care...

Canadian rock heavyweights Nickelback have dropped the official music video for their latest single, "Leave Me Behind."

Sister trio the Warning have announced a fresh batch of tour dates in support of their latest album, Everything’s Falling. While the group still has two concert appearances scheduled for this fall, the newly added dates are set for 2027. The upcoming run features a major hometown show at Mexico City’s Estadio GNP Seguros on February 5th.

A European leg launches in Madrid on March 9th before the band heads across North America starting April 17th in Las Vegas. Los Angeles rock band Wilt is set to support all North American stops through the tour finale in Boston on May 23rd. Ticket pre-sales begin on September 15th, with general public sales starting on September 18th.

Macklemore has issued a candid, detailed statement addressing his removal from Ed Sheeran’s "The Loop" stadium tour, explaining the discussions that led to his exit following his onstage pro-Palestine remarks at MetLife Stadium.

In the statement, Macklemore explained that while neither he, Sheeran, nor Pink are victims compared to the people living through violence in Gaza, Sheeran was put in a difficult position after receiving pressure from venue owners:

"Ed told me that Robert Kraft called him. We were scheduled to play Gillette Stadium later this month, which is owned by the Kraft Group. Ed told me that Kraft said I would not be allowed to perform in his stadium. Ed also told me that Kraft had rallied some of the other stadium owners and collectively they gave him an ultimatum: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you will not be allowed to play in our venues."

Macklemore noted that despite 13 years of close friendship, he and Sheeran reached a fundamental disagreement regarding public neutrality and speaking out:

"Ed was in a f*ed up position. He knew it. His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before... When criticizing Israel, opposing Zionism or saying 'Free Palestine' gets conflated with hatred of Jewish people, it doesn't protect Jewish people. It protects Israel from accountability.

I didn't need 10 shows from Ed. I needed 2. Two chances to stand in front of 90,000 people and say the words that somehow became too dangerous to say. Free Palestine. But if those words cost me the stage, while turning the conversation back to Palestine, then it was the most successful tour I've ever been on."
