What’s happening

In an unexpected cross-genre team-up, Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson made a surprise appearance alongside Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and his side project, The Coverups, at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, California.

Taking place on July 23rd during a San Diego Comic-Con kickoff party hosted by Fandom and Z2 Comics, Dickinson took the stage early in the 26-song set to handle lead vocals on the David Bowie-penned classic "All The Young Dudes" by Mott The Hoople. The track holds a special place in Dickinson's repertoire, as he previously recorded a solo cover of it for his 1990 debut solo album, Tattooed Millionaire.

The Coverups—which features Armstrong alongside Green Day touring member Jason White, tour manager Bill Schneider, and audio engineer Chris Dugan—ran through an eclectic set of punk, rock, and metal staples throughout the night, including tracks by Cheap Trick, Ramones, The Clash, Nirvana, Mötley Crüe, and Ozzy Osbourne.

Both frontmen are currently at Comic-Con promoting graphic novel projects, with Dickinson gearing up for signing appearances tied to his series The Mandrake Project.

Lou Koller, the legendary vocalist and co-founder of New York hardcore pioneers Sick Of It All, has passed away at the age of 59 following a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

His bandmates confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media, expressing deep grief as they paid tribute to their brother and frontman ahead of what would have been the group's 40th anniversary.

"It's with unbelievable sadness that we announce to our worldwide hardcore family the passing of our brother Lou Koller," the band shared. "The level of loss that we feel at this time is overwhelming. We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic frontman. Lou had the power to raise everyone's spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world."

Koller first publicly revealed his diagnosis in June 2024 after doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in his esophagus. Following intensive treatment, chemotherapy, and overwhelming support from fans and fellow artists via a GoFundMe campaign and benefit shows, Koller briefly celebrated being declared cancer-free in May 2025. However, the cancer returned later that year.

Formed in Queens, New York, in 1986 alongside his brother Pete Koller and drummer Armand Majidi, Lou led Sick Of It All through nearly four decades of relentless touring, iconic releases, and an enduring influence that helped shape the global hardcore community.

Industrial metal titans Ministry have officially announced their 17th and final studio album, Hate To Go (Take Out Or Delivery), arriving October 30th via Cleopatra Records.

Ahead of the release, the band premiered the music video for the lead single "Burned Out," directed by former Revolting Cocks member Joshua Bradford. Frontman and founder Al Jourgensen reflected on bringing the 45-year journey to an end, sharing:

"I'm fucking done. I'm proud of what I've accomplished. I'm amazed at the path that it's taken, from 'With Sympathy' to where we're at today, and all points in between. It's been quite a ride, but I'm completely at peace with the fact that it's done. It's time to herd goats."

Notably, the 10-track record features a final collaboration with legacy member Paul Barker on the closing track "We're Still Here," alongside current bandmates Monte Pittman, Cesar Soto, Paul D'Amour, John Bechdel, and Pepe Clarke Magaña.

Ministry will embark on an international "Goodbye Europe" farewell tour starting in April 2027 with special guests Die Krupps, followed by a full U.S. leg. In the meantime, the band will complete several final U.S. dates in 2026, including stops at Chicago's Salt Shed, Red Rocks, Louder Than Life, and Sick New World Texas.

Linkin Park will officially be cemented in rock history with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the Class of 2027.

The announcement was made during a live press conference at Funko Hollywood by Walk of Famers Ming-Na Wen and Sheila E. Selected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Selection Committee from hundreds of nominations, the band was chosen under the Recording category alongside rock icons The Ramones and The Smashing Pumpkins, as well as Lil Wayne, Karol G, and Sia.

The honor recognizes Linkin Park’s massive global impact, professional achievements, and enduring legacy across their multi-decade career. Dedication ceremony dates for the Class of 2027 honorees will be scheduled and announced over the coming year.

Bon Jovi ended their concert early on Thursday night (July 23rd) at Madison Square Garden in New York City after frontman Jon Bon Jovi announced to the audience that he was battling a severe sinus infection.

Roughly 90 minutes into the band's set, Jon addressed the crowd directly from the stage to explain that he could not continue the performance.

"I haven't talked to anybody about anything, but don't throw away your ticket stubs," Bon Jovi told the crowd. "I'm going to figure something out, okay? Just hold on to them. We'll figure out how to reschedule. But I'm going to have to cool it for the night. I feel great. I'll see you again soon. Good night."

A spokesperson for the band later confirmed to Rolling Stone that the early end was caused by the sinus infection, noting that updated information regarding rescheduled dates would be released shortly.

The MSG residency marks Bon Jovi's return to the stage following a four-year touring hiatus while Jon recovered from vocal cord surgery. The band's "Forever" tour kicked off on July 7th with the first of nine scheduled nights at the legendary NYC venue, featuring a mix of classic hits alongside tracks from their 2024 album Forever.

Following news that David Lee Roth has abruptly canceled the remainder of his summer tour dates—with the exception of an August 7th performance in Sturgis, South Dakota—Sammy Hagar has reached out directly to his fellow former Van Halen frontman with a message of support.

In a video message posted from home, Hagar expressed genuine sympathy after hearing about the cancellations from bassist Michael Anthony, offering words of encouragement and praising Roth for keeping the band's legacy alive on stage.

"Hey Dave, Sammy here... I wanna say from the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry. I hope you're well. I hope there's not a physical problem," Hagar shared. "Honestly, Mike and I love the fact that you've been out there doing it, supporting the greatest band in the world that we were both part of... You and I, Mikey, Al, Ed, cannot be replaced. So, when you're ready to carry on, you go, brother. Mike and I support you."

Taking the olive branch a step further, Hagar extended an open invitation for Diamond Dave to join him and Michael Anthony on stage during their upcoming Las Vegas residency in September.

"Come to Vegas for the residency in September. Come on, join us. Sing a couple songs, MC the damn show," Hagar added. "Come out and just do what the fuck you do, which is pretty damn entertaining."

While no official reason for Roth's tour cancellations has been released, his Sturgis date remains on the calendar as fans await further updates.

Alternative metal icons Staind have unveiled a live performance video for "Fade," offering another sneak peek into their upcoming live album Break The Cycle (25th Anniversary Live).

Set to arrive on August 21st, the live release celebrates the band's 5x platinum landmark 2001 studio album, Break The Cycle. To support the milestone, Staind is hitting the road this fall for a massive 25th-anniversary tour across North America, bringing along Seether, Hoobastank, and Hinder as support.

Sleep Token's third studio album, Take Me Back To Eden, has officially been certified platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) after crossing one million units in the U.S., while its breakout single "The Summoning" has earned a gold certification.

Originally released on May 19th, 2023, via Spinefarm Records, the LP has now accumulated over two billion global streams. The milestone marks the first platinum-certified album in Spinefarm's history, closing out the trilogy that began with 2019's Sundowning and 2021's This Place Will Become Your Tomb.

The platinum certification caps off a massive run for the anonymous British collective. Following the success of Take Me Back To Eden, Sleep Token transitioned to headlining major arenas worldwide. Korn frontman Jonathan Davis has officially married partner Brittany Parisi in a Renaissance-inspired ceremony in Palos Verdes Estates, California.

The couple exchanged traditional vows on July 3rd at The Neighborhood Church of Palos Verdes in front of 80 guests. The aesthetic for the intimate wedding was drawn from Sandro Botticelli's iconic painting The Birth of Venus—the exact artwork in Florence’s Uffizi Gallery where Davis proposed to Parisi in June 2025.

The celebration incorporated elements honoring both Davis' Scottish heritage and Parisi's Italian roots. Davis wore custom Douglass Tartan attire while a bagpiper heralded his entrance, while Parisi wore a bespoke gown designed by Ashton Michael. Davis' Korn bandmates—guitarists James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch, bassist Ra Diaz, and drummer Ray Luzier—were all in attendance.

"Our wedding was a perfect fairy tale," the couple shared. "We will never forget it."

The ceremony was followed by an oceanfront cocktail hour featuring skywriting over the Pacific Ocean, a five-course meal, and a gothic-influenced white wedding cake.
