$Ted Nugent has spoken out about the stark evolution of the music industry, criticizing how the shift from physical record sales to streaming platforms has dramatically stripped compensation away from artists. Appearing on the Unshaken And Unafraid podcast with host Joe Pags, the legendary guitarist pointed out that while timeless anthems like "Stranglehold" and "Fred Bear" are both approaching one billion digital streams, the financial payoff is a fraction of what physical media used to generate. "In the old days, I could get a couple of bucks per album sold," Nugent noted. "I think if you have a billion streams, you might get $29.95." Reflecting on his six-decade career, Nugent admitted he was completely blind to financial rewards when he started out, but emphasized that modern compensation cuts make it incredibly difficult for younger, virtuoso musicians to simply pay the fees to "keep the boat afloat." To counteract the decline in standard music-selling revenue, the rock icon highlighted his newly launched archival platform, NugeVault.com. The highly successful new venture allows dedicated fans to purchase rare outtakes, extra session songs, and original vinyl from Nugent's massive catalog of over 40 million albums sold.
