Kirk Hammett is one of a handful of special guests appearing on a new album from Carlos Santana.

Santana tells ABC News that the downtime from the road due to the pandemic has allowed him to work on three different albums. One of those albums is called Blessings and Miracles.

Of the album, Santana said, “My brother Kirk Hammett from Metallica is playing on it.” Additionally, Steve Winwood and Living Colour’s Corey Glover are also on this new album. Blessings and Miracles also feature two songs written by famed hit-maker Diane Warren.

Hammett, of course, has also been contributing to new music from Metallica, who have been steadily working on a new album during the pandemic. Many of the updates on the album have come from interviews Lars Ulrich has done over the past year. The last update from Ulrich came via a January feature story in Classic Rock magazine. When asked about the new album’s progress, Ulrich responded with, “Glacial. These are the craziest of times and nothing is letting up. There’s a little bit of movement [in that direction], but it’s hard to do a lot when we’re not together.”

Ulrich offered an update in November 2020 when he said during his Rolling Stone “Musicians on Musicians” interview with Phoebe Bridgers, “We’re three, four weeks into some pretty serious writing. And of all the s— — pandemics, fires, politics, race problems, and just f—ing looking at the state of the world — it’s so easy just to so fall into a depressive state. But writing always makes me feel enthusiastic about what’s next.”

He added, “It’s like, ‘F—, there’s an opportunity here to still make the best record, to still make a difference. To still do something that not even turns other people on, but turns me on.’”
