Skillet Top Hot Christian Songs Chart With ‘Feel Invincible’

If you know Skillet‘s history, you’re aware that the band enjoyed a successful career in Christian Rock before their music started crossing over to the mainstream rock charts. Congrats are in order as the veteran band has just checked off another musical milestone, earning their first No. 1 song on the Hot Christian Songs chart with “Feel Invincible.”

While Skillet have enjoyed chart-topping Christian Rock songs in the past, the Hot Christian Songs chart encompasses other genres than just rock, which makes the achievement all the more impressive. According to Billboard, it was a slow and steady rise to the top spot as the track finally peaked out at No. 1 in its 31st week on the charts, making it the second-longest journey in the 13-year history of the chart. Prior to “Feel Invincible,” only their 2007 song “Rebirthing” had even cracked the Top 10, leveling out at No. 9.

“We are thrilled to have our first No. 1 on Hot Christian Songs,” vocalist John Cooper told Billboard. “It’s so cool to see the dedication of the fans and awesome to see a Christian rock song cross some huge boundaries.” The track comes from Skillet’s Unleashed album, which became their third consecutive disc to hit No. 1 on the Top Christian Albums chart.

As mainstream rock fans know, it’s been a big year for “Feel Invincible” at rock radio as well. The track became Skillet’s first chart-topper at Mainstream Rock back in November.
