Lady A Among ACM Special Awards With Loretta Lynn, Luke Combs, And More

Country favorites Lady A will be among the recipients at the 14th annual ACM Honors at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on August 25. The Special Awards are dedicated to recognizing “the special honorees and off-camera category winners from the 55th and 56th Academy of Country Music Awards.”

Lady A and ever in-demand songwriter Ross Copperman will receive the Gary Haber Lifting Lives Award, which is presented to a country act or industry professional “devoted to improving lives through the power of music, has a generosity of spirit, and is committed to serving others, voted on by the ACM Lifting Lives board of directors.” Past recipients include Gayle Holcomb, Dolly Parton, Darius Rucker, and Carrie Underwood.

Copperman’s latest chart-topping credits as a writer include Rucker’s “Beers and Sunshine” and Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s “Happy Anywhere” and “Nobody But You.” He recently released his own southern pop EP, Somewhere There’s A Light On. Copperman has been on the ACM Lifting Lives Board of Directors since 2016.

Other award recipients at ACM Honors will include executive Joe Galante and Rascal Flatts for the ACM Cliffie Stone Icon Award and Luke Combs with the Gene Weed Milestone Award. Dan + Shay will receive the ACM Jim Reeves International Award, Toby Keith the ACM Merle Haggard Spirit Award, and Loretta Lynn, Gretchen Peters and Curly Putman (posthumously) the ACM Poet’s Award.

Ken Burns’s Country Music will be bestowed the ACM Tex Ritter Film Award, while Hillary Lindsey has been chosen as ACM Songwriter of the Year for the second year running. In the build-up to ACM Honors, ACM Party for a Cause Benefitting ACM Lifting Lives will return in August, the first time it has been held in Nashville.
