Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance during Coldplay’s show last night (June 5) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The show was the second night of a two-night stand for Coldplay. When Chris Martin introduced The Boss, he said, “I have a tattoo on my arm, because this person is my hero. Please welcome — I can’t believe we get to say it — but please welcome Mr. Bruce Springsteen.”

The tattoo on Martin’s arm is in reference to Springsteen’s song “Working on a Dream,” the title track from his 2009 studio album. After joining the band on stage, Springsteen said, “Like Chris says, he’s had this song tattooed on his arm for a while, so I guess I gotta sing it.”

In addition to “Working on a Dream,” Springsteen and Martin performed a stripped-down version of “Dancing in the Dark” with The Boss on acoustic guitar and Martin on piano.

Both performances can be viewed in the fan-shot video below.
