Shania Twain is among the 2022 nominees for the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (NaSHOF). Three of the 12 names on the shortlist will be inducted at the 52nd Anniversary Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala, due to take place on Sunday, October 30 at the Music City Center in Nashville.
Twain is one of four artists in the Contemporary Songwriter/Artists category, in which she is nominated alongside Kirk Franklin, Brad Paisley, and Pam Tillis. There are eight nominees in the Contemporary Songwriters category: Larry Cordle, Jim Lauderdale, Hillary Lindsey, Frank J. Myers, Gary Nicholson, Ronnie Rogers, Tia Sillers, and Tommy Sims.
NaSHOF Executive Director Mark Ford: “We congratulate all of this year’s nominees in our contemporary categories and look forward to early August, when we will announce those who will be inducted as members of our Class of 2022.”
Two of the composers in the songwriting category, and one from the songwriter/artist list, will be chosen to join the Hall of Fame by members of the institution, and by other professional songwriters and artists from various music genres who are prominently identified with Nashville, and who have written or co-written at least one original and significant song connected with Music City. Two more of the nominees will be named to the Class of 2022. All of those on the shortlist had their first significant song success at least 20 years ago.
A separate body of veteran voters will elect a Veteran Songwriter and a Veteran Songwriter/Artist, chosen from an unpublished list of notables who had their first major song success at least 30 years ago.
Twain will return home to Canada to headline the country’s largest camping and country music festival, Boots and Hearts, which takes place from August 4-7 at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ontario. Joining her as 2022 headliners are Sam Hunt and Florida Georgia Line. Hunt’s first-ever Canadian performance was on the side stage at Boots and Hearts in 2014, while Florida Georgia Line headlined the festival in 2015 and 2018.
