Carrie Underwood providing support for Guns N’ Roses on their 2023 North American tour was likely surprising to some. However, the country superstar appeared to have a lot of fun letting her hair down and rocking out.

Underwood opened for GN’R during the band’s shows in Moncton, New Brunswick and Montreal on August 5 and 8, respectively. Both of her sets included rock covers alongside some of her biggest hits. Among the covers Underwood tackled were Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation,” The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses” and, perhaps her most adventurous cover, Motorhead’s “Ace of Spades.”

Following the August 5 show in Moncton, Underwood shared photos from her set to Instagram. She wrote, in part, “Just a country girl living out some rockstar dreams…I was super nervous playing for another band’s crowd (of a completely different genre, no less) but you all made us feel so welcome!!!”

Underwood will open for Guns N’ Roses one more time on August 26 when the rock legends perform at GEODIS Park in Nashville. Considering it will be essentially a hometown-like crowd in Music City, it’ll be interesting to see if she shakes up her covers at any point.

Of course, those that have been paying attention for some time know Underwood has seemingly been more open about her rock fandom lately. Keep scrolling to see some recently moments where Carrie showed her rock side.
