A Perfect Circle’s debut album, Mer De Noms, just celebrated its 25th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, the band is releasing a limited 2LP vinyl reissue. This edition features unique zoetrope animations and a high-quality audiophile version as part of the Definitive Sound Series.
The zoetrope is a classic animation tool that creates the illusion of motion. A Perfect Circle has used this technique to bring the spinning record to life. The reissue includes four different zoetrope animations—one on each side of the vinyl—packaged in a premium gatefold jacket with enhanced artwork and special black inner pockets. When played at 33 1/3 RPM, you can see the animations come alive using your phone’s video app or a strobe app.
The Definitive Sound Series edition offers a One-Step pressing, ensuring the best sound quality possible. This version captures every detail of the album and is limited to 3,000 hand-numbered copies. It was pressed at RTI and mastered by Levi Seltz from high-quality analog sources.
Billy Howerdel, the band’s guitarist and main songwriter, met Maynard James Keenan while working as a guitar tech. They became friends, and Keenan encouraged Howerdel to share his demos. With drummer Josh Freese, bassist Paz Lenchantin, and guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, the original lineup was formed.
Mer De Noms was released in May 2000 and quickly became a hard rock staple, featuring hits like “Judith,” “3 Libras,” and “The Hollow.” The album received rave reviews and was a major success, making it one of the biggest albums of 2000. Don’t miss your chance to order the special vinyl reissue and the Definitive Sound Series edition now!
