Megadeth Bassist Hints at Possibility of New Music Following Farewell Tour

Megadeth bassist James LoMenzo recently shared that the band hasn’t completely ruled out making new music after their self-titled album and farewell tour this year. He mentioned, “There’s no law that says we can’t make music as we’re making music.” LoMenzo pointed out that many classic bands would hit the road, find a studio, and record new material while touring. He believes this is still possible for Megadeth.

Frontman Dave Mustaine wants the farewell tour to be genuine and not just a marketing gimmick. LoMenzo emphasized, “We’re not doing this to cash in or cash out. We’re doing this to be sincere and to really bring the legacy to its closure.”

LoMenzo also noted that past “last tours” by bands like The Who, Kiss, and Mötley Crüe influenced their decision-making. He explained that naming the album Megadeth felt fitting. “For that reason, calling the album Megadeth was the logical title,” he said. “The culmination of the whole thing.”

Since forming in 1983, Megadeth has become one of the “Big Four” of metal, alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. They have released 16 studio albums and sold over 50 million records worldwide.

The farewell tour will continue this year, with dates across South and North America, Europe, and Australia. Fans can find all tour dates and ticket links online. Stay tuned for more updates on Megadeth and their music!
