Aerosmith Releases Early Cut of ‘Movin’ Out’ From Upcoming RSD Release

Aerosmith is one of many acts dropping a title during next week’s Record Store Day Black Friday, and they offered up a preview with an early version of “Movin’ Out” from their 1973 self-titled debut.

As previously reported, this cut of “Movin’ Out” is one of seven tracks on 1971: The Road Starts Hear. Aerosmith confirmed via their social media channels 10,000 vinyl copies and 2,000 cassette copies will be released of this title. The other tracks include the following: “Rehearsal Room”; “Somebody”; “Reefer Headed Woman + Walkin’ The Dog”;  “Major Barbra”; “Dream On”; “Mama Kin.”

Per the release’s description on RecordStoreDay.com, “Boston 1971: A historic early recording of Aerosmith in their rehearsal room – just the band, crew and friends captured on Joe Perry’s tape recorder. This never-before-heard performance showcases the early, raw talent of this future Hall Of Fame band, one year before signing to Columbia Records, and two years before their eponymous debut, which featured many of these songs, including their enduring anthem ‘Dream On.’”

1971: The Road Starts Hear is listed as an “RSD Black Friday First Release,” which means the title could receive a subsequent release in the near future. This makes sense considering Aerosmith’s recent high-profile deal with Universal Music Group (UMG.) This new deal kicks in beginning in 2022 and will see Aerosmith’s entire catalog under the UMG umbrella instead of being split with Sony Music Entertainment and will also include merchandising and “audio-video projects” including “new film, television and other audio-visual content projects celebrating Aerosmith’s history and significant cultural impact.”

This deal also gives UMG access to Aerosmith’s “Vindaloo Vaults” of music, photos, video and other memorabilia as well as the personal archives of Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford.
