Alex Van Halen announces intentions to collaborate on recordings with Toto’s Steve Lukather

It looks like Alex Van Halen might be getting back into music! In a recent chat with Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain on his Metal Sticks podcast, Alex shared that he’s gearing up to work on a new project with Steve Lukather from Toto. “I’m getting ready to do this record with Lukather and a couple of other people,” he said. “It should be exciting.”

While Alex didn’t provide many details about their collaboration, back in March, Steve addressed rumors about recording a new Van Halen album with Alex. This speculation started when a Dutch outlet reported that Alex had asked Steve to help finish some unreleased Van Halen tracks.

To clear things up, Steve took to social media, stating, “I think there is a huge misunderstanding. I will NOT EVER play a guitar note on a VH song ever!” He explained that Alex asked him to help sort through a lot of unfinished recordings that Alex and Eddie Van Halen had worked on but never released.

Steve emphasized, “The fact that ANYONE would think for even a second that I would play anything on this is ridiculous. I have too much love and respect for that… I play nothing like Ed… more as a co-producer or something. I am honored Al would ask me though.”

Fans are excited to see what Alex and Steve will create together! Stay tuned for more updates.
