BANNERS’ “Someone To You” Joins Spotify’s Billion Streams Club

BANNERS has just hit a major career milestone! The British musician’s single “Someone To You” has officially joined Spotify’s Billions Club, celebrating songs with over one billion streams. This is BANNERS’ first song to reach this incredible achievement.

“Someone To You” is a hopeful song about wanting to fully commit to a relationship. It was released in 2017 as part of BANNERS’ second album, *Where the Shadow Ends*. The track gained popularity on TikTok in 2020, turning it into a sleeper hit. In 2022, it was featured as the theme song for Netflix’s *Love Is Blind: Japan* and in the trailer for Apple TV+’s animated film *Luck*.

Reflecting on the song’s success, BANNERS, whose real name is Michael Joseph Nelson, shared, “I was feeling pretty desperate and lonely when I wrote it. Even though it sounds upbeat, it’s actually pretty existentially desperate.” He believes many people can relate to the song’s message of wanting to feel important to someone.

“Someone To You” reached No. 11 on Billboard’s Adult Top 40 and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs charts. It has also achieved 2x platinum status in the U.S. and Brazil, and platinum in countries like Italy, Australia, Belgium, Canada, and the U.K.

After the resurgence of “Someone To You,” BANNERS released several projects, including the *It’s Gonna Be OK* EP in 2021 and a deluxe version of his album *All Back to Mine* in 2025. Fans can look forward to more from this talented artist!
