Billie Eilish has shared a 15-second preview of her forthcoming release “Happier Than Ever.” In the visual, a newly blonde Eilish harmonizes while facing away from the camera in a peach-hued setting, singing: “When I’m away from you / I’m happier than ever.”
The acoustic preview offers a glimpse into the developing world of Eilish’s sophomore album.
In late 2020, the singer released “Therefore I Am,” an audacious ode to being entirely unbothered. The single followed the release of “My Future” and Eilish’s James Bond theme song “No Time To Die,” which recently won a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
She also took home Record of the Year for her moving 2019 single “Everything I Wanted.”
In December, Eilish appeared on Sirius XM with her brother and collaborator Finneas to discuss the process of creating the forthcoming follow up to her massive debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go, saying: “Everything about every song is very different but somehow cohesive, and I think that was the same with the last album. We really wanted a project to be cohesive and make sense, but not just be a repeat and a clone of every other song.”
More recently, Eilish released the feature-length documentary film Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry via Apple TV+. Directed by R.J. Cutler, the documentary goes behind the scenes of the singer’s whirlwind year leading up to and following the release of her debut album in 2019. Spanning the professional and the personal, the film shows Eilish getting her driver’s license and taking the main stage at Coachella for the first time.
On May 11, Eilish will be releasing Billie Eilish, a photobook curated to highlight her moments on stage and off with particular attention paid to her fashion explorations. The book will be available with a companion audiobook narrated by Eilish herself.
