Black Eyed Peas’ ‘Bridging The Gap’ Album Gets a Reissue

Another classic Black Eyed Peas album is getting a vinyl reissue. “Bridging the Gap,” their second record, will be available on 2LP vinyl in a limited-edition brown color and standard black vinyl. The reissue drops on September 26.

“Bridging the Gap” helped shape the group’s funky hip-hop sound. At the time, the lineup included Will.i.am, Apple de Ap, and Taboo, with Kim Hill providing vocals before she left and was replaced by Fergie. The album features popular singles like “Weekends,” “BEP Empire,” and “Request + Line.”

“Weekends” includes vocals from Canadian singer Esthero and samples tracks like “Family Affair” by Sly & the Family Stone. A remix of this song later appeared on the deluxe edition of their fifth album, “The E.N.D.” Produced by DJ Premier, “BEP Empire” reached number 44 on the US Hot Rap Singles chart. “Request + Line” features Macy Gray and became the Black Eyed Peas’ first top-40 hit in several countries, peaking at number 63 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

This album followed their debut, “Behind the Front,” released in 1998. The reissue of “Bridging the Gap” is part of a series of limited-edition releases celebrating the group’s 30th anniversary. New vinyl versions of “Elephunk” (2003), “Monkey Business” (2005), and “The E.N.D.” (2009) are also available now. Earlier this year, “Monkey Business” received a new digital expanded edition.
