Bruce Kulick, the guitarist of Grand Funk Railroad, declared his departure from the band after serving for 23 years. He concluded his journey with a final show on December 14 in Marietta, Ohio. Kulick joined GFR in 2000, having previously collaborated with various artists and bands such as MeatLoaf, Union, and KISS. The individual, who celebrated his 70th birthday on December 12, expressed his fondness for performing with Grand Funk Railroad. However, he also described how the demands of touring eventually became overwhelming. I truly desired to examine my personal and creative aspirations. I have always enjoyed being a part of Grand Funk throughout the years, but the constant travelling most weekends of each month began to take its toll over time. The band performed on the East Coast or in the Midwest around 80% of the time, which resulted in my trips being the longest amongst all the band members. Whenever they travelled to Las Vegas to put up their shows, from the East Coast where the majority of them resided, they were fully aware that the journey, both to and fro, was extremely exhausting. Kulick, though, clarified that he was not considering retirement: “I’m not retiring.” I simply desire for it to solely focus on my legacy, my professional journey, and everything of value to me.
