Carly Pearce Gets New Country Airplay Entry, Returns As ACM Honors Host

Carly Pearce returns to Billboard’s Country Airplay chart dated July 2 with “What He Didn’t Do,” the latest single from her acclaimed Big Machine album of 2021, 29: Written In Stone.

Written by the artist with Ashley Gorley and Emily Shackelton, the mid-tempo song follows “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” Pearce’s duet with Ashley McBryde. That track from the 29 set became her third No.1 on Country Airplay in May, and McBryde’s first.

“What He Didn’t Do” is in its fifth, non-consecutive week on Hot Country Songs, where on the July 2 chart it reaches a new peak, climbing 50-42. Pearce commented of the song on social media at the weekend that it “holds such a special place in my heart and I’m so happy it resonates with you guys too.”

It was also announced last weekend that the Kentucky native will be the host of the Academy of Country Music’s ACM Honors show on August 24 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. She helms the 15th annual event after presenting it for the first time in 2021. Tickets for the upcoming show are now on sale.

A two-time ACM Awards winner herself at this year’s ceremony, held in March, Pearce says that ACM Honors “is one of my most favorite events of the year! It is a privilege to once again host this special night and celebrate those who are making profound impact on Country music.” The Academy has already announced its ACM Special Award honorees, who include Miranda Lambert, HARDY, Morgan Wallen, Shania Twain, and Chris Stapleton.

Meanwhile, Pearce’s Here And Now Tour continues tomorrow (29) in Brandon, MS, with US dates continuing until late August, A European leg starts on September 9, with shows in Switzerland, Germany, Holland, the UK (including at London’s Islington Assembly Hall) and Ireland. She’s also booked to headline two shows of her own at the Ryman in Nashville on October 26 and 27.
