Chad Smith, drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers, has a daughter with musical gifts as well, and she’s a contestant on season 20 of American Idol.
Ava Maybee, 20, didn’t make mention of her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame dad during her audition, but she certainly wowed the panel of judges of Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan with her rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Lately.”
Maybee, a college student, will now head to the Hollywood round which kicks off tonight (March 28) at 8 PM ET on ABC.
