EMI Nashville’s Chrissy Metz has announced a benefit show at the city’s famed Bluebird Café, to take place on July 30. Chrissy Metz & Friends will benefit the CMA Foundation and its mission to provide resources and support for music teachers, students, and music education programs across the United States.
The rising artist, known for such songs as “Landslide,” “Talking To God,” and “I’m Standing With You,” will be joined on the night by the award-winning songwriter-producer Jimmy Robbins (known for his work with Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini, Maddie & Tae, and Brett Young) and singer-songwriter Blessing Offor, signed to Bowyer & Bow/Capitol Christian Music Group.
After making her Grand Ole Opry debut on July 25 last year, Gainesville, Florida native Metz returns there tomorrow night (July 24) for a first anniversary appearance. It comes on an impressive bill featuring country staples Little Big Town and longtime star Connie Smith, as well as Henry Cho, Doyle Dykes, and the Isaacs.
Metz, an Emmy and two-time Golden Globe Award nominee, came to fame on the award-winning NBC series This Is Us, which won the 2018 and 2019 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama. She also starred in the 20th Century Fox movie Breakthrough and sang “I’m Standing With You,” written by prolific hit composer Diane Warren, on its soundtrack.
As the CMA Foundation writes, the organization “began investing in music education in 2006 and was birthed from the passion of our artists and industry professionals who first fell in love with music within the four walls of a classroom. Thanks to their teachers who believed in them, they were able to go after their dreams.”
Tickets for the July 30 benefit go on sale on July 26 at 8am local time and can be purchased via the Bluebird Café.
