Clive Davis Recruited by NYC Mayor to Plan Epic Central Park Concert

Clive Davis has been recruited by New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to plan a massive concert in Central Park to celebrate the city’s reopening after massive shutdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Per The New York Times, “Seeking a grand symbol of New York’s revitalization after a brutal pandemic year, Mayor Bill de Blasio is planning a large-scale performance by multiple acts and has called on Clive Davis, the 89-year-old producer and music-industry eminence, to pull it together.”

This concert is currently scheduled for August 21, but that date is subject to change. The New York Times notes that Davis “…is aiming for eight ‘iconic’ stars to perform a three-hour show for 60,000 attendees and a worldwide television audience.”

Mayor de Blasio said this concert is part of a “Homecoming Week” in NYC, which will feature multiple celebrations in the city for residents and tourists alike. He said in a statement, “This concert is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. It’s going to be an amazing lineup. The whole week is going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen before in New York City.”

Davis added, “I can’t think of a better place than the Great Lawn of Central Park to be the place where you say that New York is reopening.”

No other major details about this concert are currently known, but this is a story everyone will have their eyes on.
