Corey Taylor and Jim Root have been Slipknot bandmates for decades and were both in Stone Sour until Tayor fired Root from the band in 2014. Now, they might be embarking on a new musical venture.
Taylor said in a new interview with Metal Hammer, “He and I are very different people, and we were both going through our own s— in life. We reconnected, and we’re actually talking about doing some stuff on the side, outside of Slipknot and Stone Sour.”
Taylor added, “It’s cool to find your friend again and realize that you can find your way back to people that you care about. Honestly, I can’t sit here and say that I wasn’t responsible for some of the bad feelings. That can only come with self-reflection, and the fact that the things that were going on in my life rippled and affected other people. Once you own up to that, you can start to mend bridges by showing people that you are truly sorry.”

A timeline for this potential new Taylor/Root project is unknown. However, both will be pretty busy with Slipknot for a bit. The band is releasing their seventh studio album The End, So Far on September 30. The album is currently available for pre-save/pre-add on digital platforms here.
Fans looking to get their hands on a physical copy of the LP can find a number of pre-order options available at SlipknotMerch.com. The website contains exclusive album merch and bundles. Additionally, nine limited edition CDs featuring each Slipknot member wearing their new masks are available. Other physical formats include vinyl pressings in various colors and cassettes. Apparently, cassettes are officially back now for those with working tape decks.
