DaBaby And DMX Tribute Set For Summer Jam

HOT 97 (WQHT-FM) Summer Jam is returning live and has teamed up with Swizz Beatz to lead a historic tribute to rap icon DMX. In addition, HOT 97 announced that Polo G and DaBaby have been added to the star-packed line-up. The festival occurs August 22 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

These superstars join headliners A Boogie, Migos, Meek Mill, Saweetie, MoneyBagg Yo, The Heavy Hitters Presents CJ and Friends featuring Farruko and El Alfa, DJ Megan Ryte and Friends, Rowdy Rebel, and Bobby Shmurda.

“HOT 97 Summer Jam, is traditionally the official start of Summer but this year it’s the official return of Hip Hop. We’re excited to present historic live performances for the culture and make iconic historic moments in hip hop. HOT 97 Summer Jam is back and no one does it better than HOT 97!” stated Ebro Darden, host of Ebro in the Morning.

Speaking to being the first major concert to return to New York, Funk Flex said, “DJs provided the soundtrack to the world during the pandemic and our entire team is amped to perform “live” and feel the energy from the crowd. We are all ready for the return of Summer Jam!”

Bradford Tobin, President and Chief Executive Officer of MediaCo Holding Inc. (HOT 97 & WBLS), stated “HOT 97’s Summer Jam is returning in a major way and we are all eager to get outside and back to enjoying live music. COVID-19 safety protocols remain a priority and the entire production team is working in close consultation with Metlife Stadium, as well as the state and federal guidelines to ensure the safety of our fans and staff.”

A portion of the HOT 97 Summer Jam ticket proceeds benefit the Hip Hop Has Heart Foundation for local community programs and outreach initiatives. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.

Back in May, Ruff Ryders and Swizz Beats compiled music for DMX’s posthumous album, Exodus. Themes of redemption weave throughout Exodus, the first Def Jam album by DMX in 18 years, since 2003’s Grand Champ. The new album shares its name with DMX’s son Exodus Simmons. The album artwork is by original photographer Jonathan Mannion, who captured some of the most iconic images of DMX throughout his career.
