David Lee Roth Hints His ‘Retirement’ Might Be Short-Lived

David Lee Roth and his recent retirement announcement may not stick after all.

Diamond Dave was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport by Fox News and was asked, considering his farewell performances were canceled, if he’d actually end up coming out of retirement.

“There’s always a tomorrow for a singer, not so much for a trombone player these days,” replied Roth.

He continued, “How many times did Rocky retire? Seven. I think number three was my favorite…How many times did Rambo have to come out of retirement in order to make the sequel?”

When asked about whether the rumored Van Halen tribute tour in honor of Eddie Van Halen could still happen, DLR said, “Absolutely. I’m only in the middle of my first retirement.”

Roth surprised fans when he announced his retirement suddenly in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal that was published on October 1, 2021. Roth said in the interview, “I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring…I’m not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe. These are my last five shows…I’ve given you all I’ve got to give. It’s been an amazing, great run, no regrets, nothing to say about anybody. I’ll miss you all. Stay frosty.”

As with most things DLR, he’ll undoubtedly have more to say about the state of his career.
