Eric Clapton Supports Controversial Anti-Vax Brainwashing Concept

Eric Clapton has made many headlines as of late for his stances on the COVID-19 vaccine, lockdown measures and other topics related to the ongoing pandemic. His latest stance now takes on a controversial anti-vax concept that claims people have been brainwashed/hypnotized into getting the COVID vaccine.

As reported by Rolling Stone and Billboard, Clapton took part in a new interview with the YouTube Channel The Real Music Observer that was published on January 21. In the interview, Clapton makes mention of “mass formation hypnosis,” which Rolling Stone dubbed “a shiny new term in anti-vax circles.” The basis of the concept/theory alleges that people are brainwashed or hypnotized into believing information about the COVID vaccine.

Billboard noted, “The theory, which has been widely debunked, gained steam in December 2021 on the popular ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast, which has frequently been the source of incorrect and medically dubious information about the pandemic.”

Clapton said during his interview about mass formation hypnosis, “I didn’t get the memo, whatever the memo was, it hadn’t reached me. Then I started to realize there was really a memo… It’s great, you know, the theory of mass hypnosis formation. And I could see it then. Once I started to look for it, I saw it everywhere.”

Clapton added, “Then I remembered seeing little things on YouTube which were like subliminal advertising; it had been going on for a long time – that thing about ‘you will own nothing and you will be happy.’ And I thought, ‘What’s that mean?’”

Rolling Stone succinctly wrote in response to Clapton’s musings, “What Clapton saw everywhere was what most people would describe a massive public health messaging campaign encouraging people to get a safe and effective vaccine.”
