Eric Clapton’s ‘Slowhand At 70’ Concert Film Set To Be Re-Released

Mercury Studios is gearing up to release the 4K UHD release of Eric Clapton Slowhand at 70 – Live at the Royal Albert Hall on September 13.

Slowhand at 70-Live At The Royal Albert Hall was previously released on multiple formats including DVD and Blu-ray on November 13, 2015.

This special landmark release, celebrating Eric Clapton’s 70th birthday at his favorite venue, includes career defining tracks like “Cocaine,” “I Shot The Sheriff,” “Layla,” “Wonderful Tonight,” “Crossroads,” “Tears In Heaven,” “Hoochie Coochie Man,” and more.

Following his 70th birthday in March of 2015, Clapton performed his 200th concert at London’s famous Royal Albert Hall in May, fifty years after his first performance there with The Yardbirds.

Clapton’s seven-night run at the venue was acclaimed by critics and adored by the fans. The setlist blended vintage blues tracks and Eric Clapton classics from across his storied career.

The legend’s return visits to his beloved Royal Albert Hall in London are a frequent reminder of the history of this rare relationship between artist and venue. In September 2018, it was literally carved in stone, when he became one of the 11 inaugural recipients of the Royal Albert Hall Star. If you’re visiting the famous building, the star is located outside, between Door 12 and the Stage Door.

The great guitarist first played at the celebrated concert hall at the beginning of his career, but has become famous for his residencies of multiple nights there. The first started on January 6, 1987; the 2019 edition was his 19th, and took his total of performances there to 211, including 184 headliners. On December 3, 2019, he was there yet again to perform two acoustic hits, accompanied by an orchestra, as part of the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Awards 2019 gala.
