Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart Backs Daughter During ‘American Idol’ Audition

Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics made a surprise appearance on American Idol backing up his daughter, Kaya, during her audition.

The judge’s panel of Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were taken aback when Dave followed Kaya into the audition room with his guitar. The 22-year-old Kaya sang an original song titled “This Tattoo,” which she wrote with her Dad.

Following in the footsteps of her famous father is going to be a difficult journey, but it’s one Kaya is determined to go on. She said in an interview portion, “There was never a question of what I wanted to do with my life. That was always going to be what I was going to do.”

After receiving a standing ovation from the judges, Dave said aloud, “This is much more difficult than being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.”

Kaya received a unanimous “yes” vote from all of the judges and will advance to the next round of competition. Her entire performance can been seen below.
