Former Ex-I Prevail singer Brian Burkheiser starts solo project with a cover of a Taylor Swift song.

Former I Prevail vocalist Brian Burkheiser has launched his new solo project, Scatterbrain, with a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.” In a letter to fans, Burkheiser shared, “This year forced me to pivot in ways I never expected, and it tested me more than I can explain. But through it all, your support has meant everything.”

He chose “Look What You Made Me Do” because it resonates with him and reminds him of what started his career. I Prevail gained fame in 2014 with their viral cover of Swift’s “Blank Space.”

Burkheiser is still working on releasing his original music but is excited to share this cover as a piece of art. In May, I Prevail announced they had parted ways with Burkheiser, and co-vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe would take over as the band’s full-time frontman, with guitarist Dylan Bowman providing backing vocals. Burkheiser mentioned that there is “no beef” with his former bandmates, but he felt he “didn’t deserve how things went down.”

In August, he revealed that an “unresolved dispute” with I Prevail prevented him from releasing a Scatterbrain song called “Phases.” Meanwhile, I Prevail released a new album titled *Violent Nature* in September.
