Hank Williams Jr. Sings Gospel Blues On ‘Jesus, Won’t You Come By Here’

Hank Williams Jr. has unveiled “Jesus, Won’t You Come By Here,” another song from his upcoming album Rich White Honky Blues. It follows the recent appearances of “Georgia Women” and “.44 Special Blues” from the full-length, which arrives on June 17, produced by Dan Auerbach.

The gospel-blues track comes with a new music video, directed by Tim Hardiman, which includes footage from the album recording sessions at Easy Eye Sound in Nashville. Says Williams of the clip: “My brother Dan, the band and I did our thing in the studio for a few days, and this video gives fans a look behind-the-scenes…in a room together, just playing the blues. The other clips were shot in a small town in Mississippi – just perfect for an old southern hymnal. It’s a reminder to slow down and enjoy ourselves.”

Auerbach notes: “This song perfectly encapsulates what it was like to make this record. You can hear us hanging out before we slowly fumble our way into the song. It’s a very raw and real moment in the studio caught on tape.” The album marks a return to the longtime country favorite’s core sound.

The current tour by “Bocephus” continues on the album’s release day at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Staying on the road despite the recent sudden death death of his wife Mary Jane Thomas, Williams has dates throughout June and July and into August including a number of state and county fairs. These include appearances at Great Jones County Fair in Monticello, Iowa on July 21, Delaware State Fair in Harrington on July 30, and the Neon Nights Festival in North Lawrence, Ohio on August 13.

In addition to regular formats, the new album will also be available in a yellow and red splatter vinyl edition as an exclusive at Walmart.
