Fall Out Boy served up a chugging, guitar-slathered rendition of the iconic Ghostbusters theme on Thursday. Missy Elliott raps on the track, stealing it with opening lines: “Can’t sleep and I’m home alone/ Nighttime, my lights on.”
Ray Parker Jr.’s original “Ghostbusters” came out in 1984 and went on to become a No. 1 hit on the Hot 100. “To this day, people ask me, ‘Are you tired of hearing people say, who you gonna call?'” Parker said in a the music documentary Hired Gun, which screened at SXSW earlier this year. “Well, no! It’s like, am I tired of holding the best lotto ticket or the best thing to ever happen?”
Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot’s version will appear on the Ghostbusters soundtrack, which is due out in July. The track list is chock full of big names from the worlds of pop, rap, and R&B such as Mark Ronson, A$AP Ferg, and Jeremih.
The Ghostbusters reboot hits theaters July 15th.
