Husband And Wife Americana Duo The War And Treaty Sign To UMG Nashville

Husband and wife Americana duo The War And Treaty have signed to Universal Music Group Nashville. New music is expected for release later in 2022.

Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter formed as Trotter & Blount (Tanya’s maiden name) in 2014 and released the album Love Affair, via Seven49Group, in 2016. Changing their name to The War and Treaty in 2017, they returned with Healing Tide in 2018; issued on Strong World Entertainment via Thirty Tigers, it reached both the Heatseekers and Independent Albums in Billboard. 2020’s Hearts Town, on their own label via Rounder/Concord, reached No.70 on Top Current Sales, and included an Adult Alternative airplay success with “Five More Minutes.”

“We are excited to join the ranks of so many artist who we adore and admire both past and present,” say the duo. “To be a part of a historical company such as UMG Nashville and to further tell the storyline that we all can follow and achieve our dreams brings tears to our eyes. This is our story and we are grateful UMG wants to be a part of it.”

The War and Treaty were recently nominated for an Americana Award for Duo/Group of the Year, having won the Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year trophy in 2019. They have US dates this week and next including an appearance at the Virginia Arts Festival on Thursday (26) and have a European tour booked for June, including an eight-date itinerary across the UK and Ireland. It includes an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival on June 24.
